I am facing a problem with Thai fonts displaying in Adobe Illustrator. Legacy fonts- English and Thai which are already in Vista work fine but any new fonts introduced into my machine by me do not - they just display as question marks. However any English fonts introduced into my pc by myself display fine. Can anyone shed any light on this behaviour? I do not really want to go back to WinXP unless I really have to. Thx,

Applied July security bulletin release ( GDR ) for SQL Server 2000 Enterprise edition and security updates for Windows Server 2003 Server. Once the packages applied, ActiveX scripting for DTS stopped to work for the SQL Server. Tried to trace the cause, nothing seemed out of order in procmon.exe. Red some lore on the web and in the absence of any clues suspected components applied incompatible license. Replaced dtsPkg.dll, DtsUI.dll, and SQLDMO.DLL with respective RLL files, re - registered and got DTS ActiveX scripting up and running.

When you point to an icon or folder ect, a what I believe is called a "Screen Tip" box opens up with the name or description of the icon or folder in it. My first question is, how can I change the delay time for the box to appear. I hate the way the box opens when I just move the mouse pointer over it even quickly. There must be a setting that can delay the opening of the box to like when you point to an icon it takes 3 seconds before the box appears. It's a real pain when you are just moving the pointer around and 20 tip boxes open instantly as you move the pointer over icons or folders. My second question is how can I change what is in the "Screen Ti…

Forgive me if this was already posted elsewhere, I wasn't able to locate it. Currently we have a login script that is a VBScript that is assigned to each user object. It is not being applied through Group Policy. This script has worked fine in XP and currently does, however in Vista it doesn't run. If I run regserv32 vbscript.dll as an administrator, the script works fine. 1.) Is there any way to run the VBScript as a login script without registering this DLL? Do you need to be an admin to run this? What are my options? 2.) If VBScript is not longer natively supported without registering the ..DLL, what is the default scripting engine preferred to r…

Ops major mistake, Vista equals Windoze Mastrubation Edition (ME) number II  ! Well no reason to keep things working and people being able to capitalize on their (thousand $US) investment according to M$oft! As it is the case for being able to write to the parallel port, access all pre-usb developing boards and old GPIB cards for example! Do yourself a favor and get Linux on you PC, fc8 installs as a charm in anything nowadays! Then use "dosbox" with all you need for those UNFORGETABLE games, even free gaming servers )! Myself I got rid of both ME and VISTA & got a $100 rebate on both after spending 30min on toll free calls, though both were pre-i…

Hello, I run a network of about 60 Windows 2003 servers. Each one runs a local caching only DNS (Microsoft DNS). They are used for monitoring web pages and each uses IE7 to load up web pages and verify the site is working. Lately we have been experiencing an issue where IE7 will no longer display websites. The symptoms are: IE7 will load Enter URL URL domain lookup fails Tries to redirect to friendly search suggestions Fails Address bar shows "http:///" No page is loaded This problem is intermittent on various servers with various levels of patching on different networks. None are associated with a domain or have any AD requirements. To fix this pr…

We have a computer that started out with a problem logging into an Intranet site of ours. The user on that machine only gets an error and this site uses windows authentication to logon automatically. Anyway, another possibly related issue is that the ability to RCMD to the machine does not work either. We have tried to drop the machine from the domain and rejoin and it seems to work for 5-10 minutes and then it goes back to the same problems. You also cannot access the event viewer, services, etc. remotely through an MMC. Other things like logging in and using exchange email works for the user though. Any ideas on what could fix this issue? Thanks in advan…

Hi, I searched for help on google without success. I could really use some help getting this to work. We have a workgroup (WG) with a server (SRVA) Win2003 on it and other PCs. It is connected to a Dell PowerConnect switch and it working fine. There is a second network (domain) to which we'd like to connect to a shared folder from SRVA. So, we installed a linksys router, connected to WAN port to the outside network (domain) and put our workgroup server in the routers DMZ. I can map the drive using Windows Explorer and get to the folder I need opening the file. The problem is we have a program that needs a unc to a file on that shared folder. The pr…

If my network is using Private addressing am I less vulnerable? One last question 3. Good afternoon all, The organization I work for is currently in process of starting a wider roll-out of Windows Vista to the entire company. I'm running into a question with power management options through group policy - I've got just about everything set, however I can't find anything on setting the Power Savings Mode for Searching and Indexing. Any kind of Internet search directs me to the policy options for search settings, none of which have anything to do with power management. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks! Joe

No, because sometimes mine works and sometimes it doesn't. I have a few video files, and the screen saver even plays the video files, which is cool, it just doesn't work consistently.
