When running photo screen saver, the screen goes black for a few seconds when I reactivate the computer, an "auto configure" screen appears, then I find the window I was working in - say Windows Mail - has lost the default size I set it, and reverted to the the smaller size. Any help please.

Thank you for your suggestions. I followed the suggestions and it worked. But every time I shut down/restart the desktop icons are blacked out again. Even on explorer some are blacked out. It seems like the ones I created are corrupted, like shortcuts of folders. I've changed the color depth, deleted the cache, restarted, but still, if I shut down and then start again, they icons will revert back to black. Any suggestions? Thanks, Tom -- tct@usa dot com "OKuma" wrote: > Try this > > Launch an elevated CMD window, ie Right click, Run as Administrator... > Shutdown Explorer Process from the Task Manager > In the CMD window go to…

I have an 8 button mouse. I like to use button 3 for 'double clicking'. For some reason unknown to me this button no longer performs this function when I start W XP. I then go to Start > Control Panel > Mouse > Buttons > Button 3 Double Click > Modify > OK > Apply > OK. After doing the previous I get a message " to protect your computer Windows has closed this program, Name: Run a DLL as an App". I close this message and get a second message asking if I want to send an error report to MS. I close this message and my mouse button 3 is now able to do double - clicking. This will now work fine untin I close down W XP and then restart it. A…

I'm trying to solve one simple problem. On my WXP partition all printers stopped working (even PDF writer). I have HP local printer working fine on WIN98se, while the same printer on WXP won’t print although system detects it.
