I transcribe using headphones with Express Scribe or RC Player, but I really miss working while classical music plays in the background. Is there anyway to configure my Windows XP so ITunes will play through the speakers and my transcription programs play through the headphones and they do not overlap? I have Creative Soundblaster Live 24-bit speakers. I plug my headphones in my front jack of my Dell Dimension 8400.

I am running Windows 2003 on my DCs. My CA is installed on a Windows 2000 server. I would like to move my certificate services from 2000 to a 2003 server. I saw the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298138/en-us but it says I have to upgrade the CA to 2003. I cannot do that because of other services running on the box. I want to get my CA on 2003 so it will support the autoenrollment of certificates feature. Does anyone know if... I can move my CA to another 2000 box and then upgrade the new CA to 2003 with minimal disruption? Any assistance is appreciate. Thank you.

I installed an HP printer on my laptop the install disc was for XP so I had to go on line for the drivers. After that the side bar changed from a digital to an analog clock, and the picture slide show is one quarter of the size it was. How do I get it back to the way it was? -- Kc135a

Sorry there for my absense... No i am not running qt7. As i wrote, the only program i had installed at that time was Pinnacle 11 ult. My work on the pc is primarily foto/videoediting. Thats why i bought 8 gb ram. I wonder if 8 gb is overkill and perhaps more than vista (or the rest of the setup) can handle. Since my reply i have tried to test the pc some more. It turned out that the pc didnt work fine at all. It was pretty unstable to say the least. I ran a sfc /scannow in cmd (u know?) as someone somewhere suggested and it found damaged files that was repaired. I have switched arround the ram modules and left only one (2 gb) in the pc to start with. It seemed t…

Hello, I observed a funny thing. We have several Windows Server 2003. They are part of a domain, let us call it .pac. Let us call one server Munich. The servers have several shares, let us call one share on Munich "Inside". On server munich I open The Run-Window (Start, run) and then typ in: \\munich.pac\Inside The Server does not open the share, it asks for authentication which never works. I alway receive: Logon unsuccessful. Windows is unable to log you on. Be sure that your user name and password are correct. If I type in: \\munich\Inside then it opens the share immediately without any question. If I go to another windows server 2003 or my XP-Cli…

Is there some way to get rid of the screen that comes up when I type Win/L - the one with the current user avatar and a Switch User button Of course I want to switch users that's why I typed Win/L - its called Fast User Switching, the only functiuon this screen serves is to Slow things down. Is there some way of making te User Account avatars more like those on XP, I have to use the mouse as I can't easily determine which avatar has focus. Why have the mail and process counts disappeared, they were useful, is there some way I can get them back. The changes that Vista has made on this facet have detracted from windows usability, - maybe because FUS w…

Hello all, My organisation has a windows server 2003 SP 1 domain controller running certificate services. During a previous upgrade to Win Server 2003 SP1, there were quite a number of issues arising form the upgrade. I am just being curious if there is any known issue with upgrading a domain controller running certificate service to service pack 2. I would appreciate responses from the house on the best way to upgrade the server without any issue. Regards Damola

Hi all, I posted this in the WMI newsgroup, but there's not much action there! Perhaps I can find some help here... I have a simple little Windows service that retrieves events from a remote computer through WMI and a ManagementEventWatcher. It all works just fine... as long as the user I specify in my ConnectionOptions (see below) is an administrator of the remote computer. My problem is that (for security reasons) I cannot use an administrator account. I have created a clean account, currently with no permissions on the remote computer. Now I want to add just the permissions needed for my service to work, but I can't find anywhere what permissions that …
