Looking for active antivirus program that supports the scanning of encrypted content as supported by the Microsoft Antivirus API. I have an Excel Wookbook that is password protected. When I Save changes to this workbook I get the following Information Message: This document is both encrypted and password protected. The Office Open XML Formats available in the 2007 release provide stronger encryption. Do you want to increase the security of this document by converting to an Office Open XML Format? I said YES once but there's a problem as noted below: I've researched and found out the following information. Problem: A macro contained in an encrypt…

The other day I started my computer and got this message: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop refers to a location that is not available. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location. And Vista looked like a really old version of Windows. Wtf? So I restarted and everything has been fine since. Just curious about what happened. -- SJK11

How can I set a tile view for all directories inside a partition? For instance I can choose Customize from the drive's properties and set one of the templates. However, some directories are listed as tiles, while others are listed as large. I would like a consistent view on all directories, no matter which template I choose. Or if possible, I would like to know how to set my own template. Is there a way to set the same view to all subdirectories?

Hi, I have a 2003 Enterprise server SP2 32bit running here. On some computers, that aren't part of the domain, and not always, when I go to start \ Run, and type \\server to open the shares I should get prompted for a password (or a list of shares if I already authenticated) but I get a message: \\server is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator to find out if you have access permissions. An unexpected network error occured. If I go to the server through a shortcut to \\server , or through Network Places, I can access it just fine. This happens on XP Pro SP2 & SP3 & Vista Busines…

Hi, I was running an SBS2003 Setup, but then the Active Directory got Corrupted... and because over the last few months the company has been slowly migrating to vista and now all their computers bar 1 desktop and 1 server, it made sense to move over to server 2008 as it is supposed to work well with Vista. The problem I am having is that from the server I cannot remotely connect to 2 machines.. although the strange thing is they can connect to the server fine.. redirected roaming profiles work fine, its just connecting from the server to the machines. Thanks in advance

During the small hours of this morning I repair installed XP Home ed. then installed SP3 - and all was lovely. Including the IE7 problem that I've given up chasing down whereby an ebay auction "large photo's" wouldn't completely load. Reboots were much faster - as I said - all was lovely. This mornng boot up is taking AGES, and several icons are missing from system tray ! including the "Power options" icon, which - lastt boot up - I switched off then on to make it appear - and rebooted and it's gone again. Any idea why several hours would make a BIG difference to what was wonderful, and is now awful ? TIA regards, Richard

Dear subscribers I would like to know if it’s possible to configure Windows Desktop Search, in my case version 4, to index web pages as well as drives. The idea is to get a unified search view for most of my company’s documentation which is both as Word documents and web pages (wiki etc)? Thanks, Ola

Recently I have had my IE windows slowed from one process to the next with an Automatic Screen Refresh. System response is doing something in background as my next window is finally activated. Could be at ONE Website using it's multiple windows and have the Auto Refresh happen. When in Word97 or 2000, program will load and Auto refresh screen before I get a chance to Open a File. Know it is going to happen because System Bogs down with NO response from any open windows or program selection on my part. So, what is happening and what can be done to resolve this. At times I will have 2-5 windows open but never had the problem in the past. FYI, I sh…

when I ping from machine A to B: >ping 121.1.1.1 -v 0x47 windows keeps delivering the ToS field as 0x46 in the IP datagram. This is what Wireshark reported. However, I didn't have any problem when pinging from a linux box. It appears that the 2nd Hex will always be round off to the lower even number when pinging from windows machine, e.g: 0x27 becomes 0x26 0x15 becomes 0x14 0xA3 becomes 0xA2 and so on.... When looking closely in Wireshark, this is this due to the last bit of the QoS because it's related to ECN-CE ....whatever, this means....does anyone know how can I turn on this function? So I can set the traffic all the way from 0 t…
