I have Windows XP SP2. When I do a search for a phrase, my results show the folder name that I am searching under the 'Name' column istead of the file name that is found. I just type in the word and do a browse to a specific folder... nothing special. I have checked some other PCs here and it works fine on others. Any help would be appreciated. Jennifer

I have created some batch scripts which run as scheduled tasks on one of our servers. There are 2 scripts for each day, one of which backs up to a file for the onsite backup, the other of which backs up to the server's tape drive for the offsite backup. The onsite backup script works fine, using the following command: c:\windows\system32\ntbackup.exe backup "@C:\Backup Scripts\onsite.bks" /n "Tuesday morpork onsite set created %morporkdate% at %morporktime%" /d "Tuesday morpork onsite set created %morporkdate% at %morporktime%" /v:yes /r:no /rs:no /hc:off /m normal /j "Tuesday morpork onsite" /l:s /f "M:\Tuesday.bkf" where %morporkdate% and %morpork…

Here are a few things you need to check on the computers that are giving you problems. 1. Make sure they have all prereqs installed. 2. Make sure they have received the FCS GPO policy (without this it won't install) 3. Check if these computers are running XP SP3. There are some issues in detecting prereqs with SP3 installed. If this is the case call Microsoft support and see if they have a fix for this. Hope this helps! -- MCSE, forefront spec | http://www.msforefront.com "TheIrish1" wrote: > We recently started testing ForeFront installation through WSUS to a test > group/OU. 99% of the time all is great, the clients get ForeFront clien…

Hi, I have a HQ where the Terminal service server is deployed. The server is Windows Server 2003 R2 and the clients are Windows XP. We do not deploy VPN between sites. For some reasons a domain is not created so it is a non-DC server. There is a user at a remote office (let's call it UserA) who has a directly connected local printer. Another remote office has a user called UserB. When UserA connects to the Terminal Service, he can print to the local printer. We setup this by connecting the local resources and adding a printer driver on the server. Now, UserB wants to use UserA's printer, but he cannot see the printer. Both users are normal users. If…

sorry, another update: I found the registry editor and the music folder was linked to the wrong place and I corrected it. After restarting the registry is still listed correctly, but the button on the start menu is still not functioning and there are no tabs if you click properties - its still blank. Is there any way I can fix this? -- csmurray

Okay, I'm having the exact same problem, except for with the music folder instead of pictures. When I click on the properties of the folder, there's nothing there though, just a blank properties page. There is no tab for location or any other tab at all. How can I fix this? It's making my itunes run real screwy as well.. -- csmurray

I get this message as well but it is only when I set my computer to standby or hibernate. It is when the computer is awakened and I try to open a sound file or something then I get this error message. I check Sounds and Audio Devices Properties (control panel) and notice that under the Volume, Audio and Voice tabs that everything is grayed out (buttons and pull-downs)... there simply is "No Audio Device". In the Device Manager, I run all the troubleshooting routines to no avail. I check for the latest driver and the routine verifies that I have it (SignaTel High Definition Audio CODEC, ver 5.10.0.4717, dated 9/9/05). The only thing that fixes this is a…

I have several XP machines on a network (domain). Some of these machines are routinely used via Remote Desktop. I have been struggling with a couple of machines in particular where the Power Options (PO) keeps reverting back to Laptop. I have gone so far as to completely disable any power saving possibilities (including deleting the Laptop PO) and putting these machines in Presentation mode. Every time I change the settings ... these machines will work as expected for days or weeks at a time, then they revert to the Laptop PO. This may be an error in observation however, there may be a pattern of "updates" and the reverting to the "Laptop" setting. …
