3 or 4 couple of weeks ago, I dug around this horrid HP J6410 XP driver to set it for A4 - to solve a problem with paper size i.e. the defaults set in it were for American "Letter" sized paper, and invoicing software print-out was out of position. To correct that, I set A4 paper size in 3 places, (in the HP driver), in "Printing Preferences" and "Properties." Yesterday, after abandoning the idea of "transplanting" an aged XP Home platform onto significantly different and newer hardware, e.g. http://www.theeldergeek.com/replace_motherboard.htm I took the "preferred," but, more time consuming, route of a fresh XP install, adn reinstalling EVERYTHING :-(…

Hello support, We have a Windows Server 2003 x64 system that at seemingly random intevals (anywhere from 5 to 10 hours apart) reaches 100% CPU usage and locks up. The system is running in a virtual environment (Citrix XenServer) with another Windows Server 2003 guest that have no problem at the time of the incident. There are no logs in the virtual host to suggest a problem, aside from a restart taking place which must be manually initiated, the Windows Server does not restart on its own. The system was configured with 4x vCPUs and 2gb RAM. The host has 4 CPUs (Intel Xeon 3Ghz) and 4Gb RAM. The only entry in the Windows Event Log that suggests a …

Terrific advice Rodeo! I had the same problem, and installing the patch fixed it for me. Micrsoft should emphasize this more. I have 3 updates (Office 2003 SP3 Outlook Junk Email Filter - KB953465 and Office 2003 - KB907417) which I can't complete. I get a message "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" and then asks to be directed to file Pro11.MSI. I unfortunately can't locate the disk I installed Office Pro 2003. Can this be resolved from a web site? Thanks, -- KT

I did a Google search for this problem. It seems that many people are having this. Some suspect it has to do with the iNvidia 8000 series display card. Some others are saying that it has to doiwth the Java scripting. If you were to fully re-install Vista it would be good to see if that fixes it, and for how long. -- Jerry G. Vista, SP1 I have a problem...stared out occurring when I went to sleep mode for a while or locked the workstation. Now I am getting it on a cold boot too. System comes up, but my desktop icons, with the exception of three or four out of sixty five, are blank - text shows but icons are blank (My Computer and Control Panel shortcuts always look fine along with one desktop folder). The system shows busy (hourglass). The disk drive rattles away excessively for a while. The hour glass never goes away, the icons stay blank. I can start programs by clicking on the blank icons and use them normally. A check in Process Explorer shows little activity with the ex…

Hi everybody, I am thinking about ServerBackup in Server2008 again. Since I have problems with my Promise RAID controller, I would like to switch to an LSI. All these controllers need special drivers to works with Windows. ServerBackup2008 provides the opportunity to install drivers during the restore process. Does anybody know if these drivers are integrated in the OS to be recovered? If not, I would have to instal the drivers first (before backing up) or else I could restore the system but it would not boot because it does not find the HD, right? Or are there any other ways to swich from one RAID controller to another? Thank you Ole
