W2003, C: drive only, did ASR backup on weekend. I wanted to test restoring a single file. Attached the USB External HDD, started up BACKUP, went to Restore... tab, right-clicked on the BKF file that is in the left pane, clicked Catalog. There is no '+' on the C: drive to drill-down. (yes there is a '+' on the 'Backup.bkp created date/time' file which expands to 3 items being C:, C:, System State) When I hover the mouse over one of the items above, a tick/check mark appears - I presume to allow selection of the whole of the item but no drill-down. -- Regards Tom

I wonder if anyone ever was able to help Lars. I started having the same difficulty about the same time as he did, and I have never found anyone at Microsoft who will give me any answer than "Do not worry just use it." This despite having the had folks at Microsoft spend three different afternoons wtih remote assistance. I nuked and burned my hard drive many, many times trying to resolve this at one point after this began, a warranty repair required a new motherboard and hard drive at the same time. Yet still this persists. Curiously, I have just found this same issue on the IE 7 update downloaded from the web, but when I went to the library and dow…

In XP, we changed the registry so that we had an admin account profile pointing at the Default User profile. So that when we looked in with this account anything we changed was done in the Default User profile. So that when users log in, they get a standard profile that was created using the edited Default User profile. This is what we did in XP: Edit the registry so that the temp account's profile path points to the Default User's profile path. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\] Default User's profile path is usually C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\ When I did the same thing for Vista usi…
