Hi all, I installed 2000, SP4, VIA Hyperion 5.12 and video driver on a MSI KT4V board. It has a KT400 chipset which isn't the most compatible bit of hardware (never got a Promise TX2 to run with decent speeds on it). The problem is that USB flash drives when disconnected are immediately connected again! Whether I choose "Stop USB mass storage device" or "unplug or eject hardware" the drive will disappear from explorer, it's LED flashes off and back on and the drive appears in explorer again. It's not just cosmetic, I can use it. I do however get the "save to unplug" message. This does not happen with USB hard disks. Google is not my friend. 8+ hour…

Any suggestions - internet data card - Pay as you go Service? *************************************************************************** I have 2 questions. 1. I am in the process of buying a laptop ( Vista). The new laptop does not have a slot for an internet datacard to be inserted ...can only accomodate a USB device for internet data service. So I will need a service that offers the USB device. I am using T mobile (USA) ( US 49.99 per month ) now but they do not offer a USB device in lieu of the internet data card. So I have to find a new service. Any suggestions of an economical service ? 2. Since I hardly use this service - maybe once in 2 month…

We have guests visiting us and rather than have them use 'my' computer, I easily created a Guest account. I was pleasantly surprised when I started a backup (to a remote site) on my side of the computer and then choose the Switch User screen. When I went back many minutes later to my side of the compuetr, the backup was completed. Did this also exist in older versions of Windows. I find this a great idea. Just passing this on.

I have four user accounts which I switch between (they are more like workspaces), I have a desktop application that I want to use for each account and I want to see the same data in all four accounts. So I planned on setting up two scheduled tasks for each account 1. triggered by "On Connect to User Session" to starts the program 2. triggered by "On DisConnect to User Session" to use KILLTASK to end the program Both tasks display message before taking the respective actions I set up the tasks for one User Account with the intent …

I need some help using Windows Mail search. In XP and Outlook, I could easily search for a specific message or author. I could quickly move from one entry to another with a single keystroke (but have forgotten what that was). I could do this to move through the list of message threads and therefore could also see all of the responses. With Windows Mail search, I can go to the message or author, but all results end up as single entries in the search engine, and I cannot easily see the sequence of response. It is very awkward, and it is often difficult for me to locate the original message if I want to scroll through the newsgroup threads. I hope my d…

Hi, I just experience some little trouble with XP and mapped network drives. One of the clients is running SP2 and mapped with 2003 server folders by Logon scripts. They both are domained. The user tried to access several mapped drives, but she could nto see any in my computer. Try to access them by typing the drive letters in "Start" "Run" but result is the same. When I tried to "disconnect" them, it is so wierd that you could see all the "connected" and "mapped" drive there. ALso, there are two ways to access to the network drives, the first is to open up any applications and go to use the Open. You will see all them there. The second way is to d…
