CAUTION: The following procedure requires registry modifications. So proceed at your own risk. The procedure is partially based on Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 885222. Many have written about issues sorrounding WINDOWS XP SP3 update and how Firewire 800 port stops working. I would like to share with you a workaround I have used successfully. My PC had WINDOWS XP SP2 and a functioning Firewire 800 port, which I used to connect SANDISK EXTREME IV CF card reader and download photos from my Canon DSLR into Lightroom. When I first installed SP3 update from Microsoft Windows website, the card reader was no longer visible to the computer. After searchin…

I am running the fax service and shared fax printer on our Windows 2003 Server R2 (not SBS). This is also our domain server. I need to grant certain users the ability to view all faxes in the fax console for all users without giving them full administrator access for the entire domain.

I have a Windows 2003 R2 server that is running as a terminal server. I'm not running AD so I'm using the local user setup. I have my users setup on their Environment tab to "Start the following program at login". This works great for all users except one. The program doesn't run at all and he gets just the desktop. I even changed the program to run to c:\windows\notepad.exe as a test but it didn't even run that. Where can I look to find out what is stopping this user from running a program at login for the terminal server? Thanks for the help. James Trogdon

XP x64, it's years that my "Safe Mode" boot does not work, it goes to BSOD. I can't even remember how I lost it, maybe installing graphic drivers. I didn't bother up to know, as I am not able to reinstall a new HaupPauge HVR 4000 tv card (other thread). I wanted to access devices in safe mode to remove them, any other attempt failed, digital tuners are no more available as they was at first installation, I tryed moving the board to different pci slot, uninstall etc. but can't get the digital tuners back, analog tuners work fine, with the initial problem that analog audio is very bad. Which way do you suggest to attempt to "repair" the system? Backup and rein…
