When I boot my XP computerr, I get an error msg about "Debug assertion failed" This is concerned about a line of C++ code in a program called Natural Color, specifically colorload.exe. I can choose 'skip', and everything goes on normally, but how can I get this to go away? It just started bugging me about 3 weeks ago. If you want me to use a different forum, please tell me which forum to use, because I have no idea. Thanks for any help.

I am trying to copy all bluetooth settings to default user so that no matter who logs into this computer they get the same bluetooth options. Is there a way to do this? I cannot figure out a way to accomplish this. I can only get the other settings to copy to the default user profile.

Vista documentation states that when using offline files with encryption, the User files are encrypted with an EFS certificate. I know exactly how this worked in XP because I was able to look at the properties of the files in the CSC to determine that a self signed EFS certificate (using a derivitive of the machine name) was generated to encrypt the files even though I had my own 3rd party EFS certificate (Native EFS by the way used my 3rd party EFS certificate to encrypt). Under 32bit Vista Ultmate, I can no longer see the file properties (not in the context menu) in the CSC to see if the encryption works the same as XP. Does anyone know how to get to see…

So I had a IE issue on my laptop. It was home premium version of vista. I installed ultimate. I used bitlocker, which creates a 5GB partition. I had to do a factory restore on the laptop and install all my apps and SP's. So now I am back with Vista Ultimate SP1. Now, I want to enable bit locker again, however, will bit locker see this small partition that is on my disk and use it or will it create a new partition? I hope it can use the one it created before. Thanks, Blake

Background: I have Vista32 in my PC, and after some new hardware related crashes I decided yesterday to completely restore Vista partition from backup with Acronis. However, in the middle of the restore from USB HDD, the backup complained about faulty archive and I ended up with no working C: partition. I reinstalled Vista from DVD and also all the programs. The loss of the Vista OS partition was not that hard, as all my personal data is on D: and E: on the same drive. However, as the reinstall started from a situation, where there was empty space instead of C:, I realized only after the install that Vista had set the BCD boot files to D: (the fi…

Hi, I need to easily resize 1000's of images on our file server. The best tool I have found for this is the WinXP image resizer tool, but it can't be installed on 2003. I have just been mapping a drive to the server on my XP PC and doing this, but it means I can't use my PC while I do this as it uses all the CPU and memory. Is there a simple tool for 2003?
