I need some help using Windows Mail search. In XP and Outlook, I could easily search for a specific message or author. I could quickly move from one entry to another with a single keystroke (but have forgotten what that was). I could do this to move through the list of message threads and therefore could also see all of the responses. With Windows Mail search, I can go to the message or author, but all results end up as single entries in the search engine, and I cannot easily see the sequence of response. It is very awkward, and it is often difficult for me to locate the original message if I want to scroll through the newsgroup threads. I hope my d…

I first attempted to add a new account. When trying to start the new account I received a message that the user profile service failed. So I deleted the new account and turned on the Guest account and restarted the computer and the same message appeared. Anybody have a clue how to fix this without a clean install.

Hi, I just experience some little trouble with XP and mapped network drives. One of the clients is running SP2 and mapped with 2003 server folders by Logon scripts. They both are domained. The user tried to access several mapped drives, but she could nto see any in my computer. Try to access them by typing the drive letters in "Start" "Run" but result is the same. When I tried to "disconnect" them, it is so wierd that you could see all the "connected" and "mapped" drive there. ALso, there are two ways to access to the network drives, the first is to open up any applications and go to use the Open. You will see all them there. The second way is to d…

But wait there's more! I'm seeing this as an office-wide epidemic! All clients running windows XP pro sp2 (25 clients). The basic complient is that Outlook freezes, crashes and burns then must be restarted in Outlook safe mode (outllook 2003 and 2007). It's random. I've updated one machine to SP3 in hopes that this might fix the problem but no go. It started off with just a few people (i know it's starting to sound like a virus but I've scanned and scanned and none found, well except for one dork)... When I look through the event viewer logs though, I see more apps that are hanging besides Outlook. This behaviour is the same for all the users that ha…

Hi, This has been posted before, but I could not find a proper resolution or explnantion for what I am seeing. I have an app that performs a PdhConnectMachine in order to monitor a remote machines performance counters. This app runs as scheduled task under the SYSTEM account. Prior to calling PdhConnectMachine, it calls WNetAddConnection2 in order to create a connection, which I think PdhConnectMachine uses to connect. WNetAddConnection2 has a user and password supplied to it externally. This works fine on a number of machines here at the office, but does not work on a remote site. PdhConnectMachine fails with PDH_CSTATUS_NO_MACHINE. However, WNetAdd…

Good afternoon, We have a Enterprise Root CA setup on a domain member server (Windows server 2003 R2) and no subordinate at this point. This server hosts our Exchange 2003 server. I'm not super familiar with Certificate servers, but shouldn't this should have been setup on a domain controller? I discovered this because our DCs are giving error messages about KDC certificate is now invalid (see below for the full message). I don't want to effect the certificates that are already distributed. Any suggestions? **************************************** Event Type: Warning Event Source: KDC Event Category: None Event ID: 20 Date: 8/15/2008 T…
