hi, i have perfmon alerts config'd to monitor disk space, memory, and many other counters. i have created a regular (non admin) user that the alert runs as. all of the perfmon alerts start just fine and run appropriately UNTIL an alert is fired and it has to execute a batch file with "cscript sendemail.vbs ...." in it. i have even altered batch file to simply "echo test > c:\scripts\test.txt" (without quotes) and that won't even work the alert is never fired and of course i never receive alerts. :) user has been granted logon locally rights in sec pol, and i assigned user the logon as batch file rights in sec pol. i have also granted the builtin b…

Hello: Traditionally, MX priorities are set in multiples of 10, and an attempt is made to deliver the email to the server with the lowest priority first. Do they have to be in priorities of 10, though? If an MX file has a priority of 10, another of 9, and another of 8, will that priority "work"? Thanks! SQL Programmer (it's just a name)

I'm using Windows Calendar (the one included w/Vista) for appointments, but I sometimes miss reminder messages, since they are popping up underneath other windows, and I don't always hear the chime. Does anyone know of a way to force the reminder windows to pop up above all other windows? If it matters, I'm using Vista 64-bit Business edition.

I have a Vista Ultimate workstation running on a domain with a Win2K3 Srvr. I start Outlook 2007 in cache mode on the workstation as part of the startup sequence. I am also running Google desktop with a sidebar. When I reboot my workstation, Vista takes up all of the resources and won't allow me access to the cursor until almost all of the boot process has completed. Is there a way to control resources better during the boot process?

I have several Vista workstations on a AD network along with 10's of workstations running XP and servers running various OS's. The AD network is connected to a separate much larger AD network (several hundred workstations and servers). When browsing network places (e.g.: when mapping to a network drive), the XP machines on the smaller AD network show two distinct networks, the local AD network and, larger AD network. Both networks can be 'explored' without significant delay. However, when performing the exact same function on a Vista workstations, there is no distinction between the two AD networks. In addition, every time the browse button is hit, …

Hi, I have the same need as well. To answer your question of why I would want to schedule a restart....... I need to schedule a restart in order to finalize Windows updates after all users have disconnected from the server and all backups have completed. This will be useful in getting the updates completed without inconveniencing the network users by waiting for a reboot during server access hours. Everytime I shut down windows, I get a message "End Program f14". Also each time I do shut down, the "f14" changes to another hexadecimal number. The other issue that is occurring is with Cut/Paste, especially in Office 2007... it takes 1-15 seconds for the "Cut" to occur. Any suggestions?

I admit that everything was working and that -I- messed it up. To allow "My Documents" to be shared between two computers, I set one of the computers' (\\zm01) "My Documents" folder to be shared on the Workgroup. I then redefine the other computer's (\\zm02) "My Documents" target to the share name of the "My Documents" folder on \\zm01. It recently came to me that I may wat to restict access since a few people share this home network. So, I tried by disabling "simple sharing" and setting permissions, but realized that \\zm02\username could not be given permissions since a common domain doesn't exist. I then changed the share name to include a doll…

I have a Windows XP Professional SP3 machine on which I couldn't get this update to install. I went to microsofts website to get the manual download (sorry I don't have the link available to me right now). I tried to run the install but when it asked me to select (check the box nex to) the installed options I couldn't select anything and so would be forced to cancel. I thought maybe I needed to stop the SQL services before I could run the installation manually, and that's when i saw that they were disabled (in my case: SQLAgent$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ, MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ). I set the both of these to manual and started them both. I ran the manual update again-this tim…
