I am trying to install a Sharp scanning software package on a Sony Vaio computer running Vista Business. Everytime the software intaller gets to the point where it would place objects into the Documents and Settings folders it errors out. The errror states the path is too long. The program works on Vista as I have installed on other computers fine. It appears the redirection to Users is not occurring. I have selected run as administrator as well as run as XP to no avail. I am thinking perhaps SP1 would help but am not sure. I have also heard that creating a new account may help. I have also turned off UAC. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. --…

In Windows XP I could choose to display the filenames with the photo's. Because the filenames aren meaningful that was very nice Is that not possible anymore in the Windows Vista screensaver? Also is it not possible to set the tinme between foto's slower? Now the setting slow is much to fast

Hello, I would really like to prevent Vista from adding IPV6 records in DNS. I have disabled IPV6 but that does not help at all. Any ideas. Thanks

Using XP Pro SP 2 For the last month or so a number of our users have been reporting files appearing on their desktops with a name in the following format: TMP_10-0916-380 20-08-2008_411 NB. there is no file type suffix. All of these files are zero byte in length and are created either when the user logs on or off their account. Between zero and 10 of these are generated at any one time. All users who experience this have roaming profiles. Caching is turned off on the user profile share. Anyone else seen this or have any idea what generates these files? I have had several workstation with this same problem. When the user logs on in the morning they receive a message that the local profile cannot be found and they are being logged on with a temporary profile. Users only log off at night and then log back on in the morning. If the user reboots his computer he can log on with no problems. I have removed and rebuilt both the domain and local profiles for these users. Two worked with nor problems, another worked for about a week and then the problem started again. Does anyone have any idea on what is causing this and how I can keep it from continually happening? Thanks

Gurus, I really like using Microsoft (formerly Systernals) Process Monitor to view OS activity on a micro level. Only thing is I can't get it to filter by a "Result" other than "SUCCESS" or "Unknown". Has anyone else had better luck with that? -- Spin

Hiya, I made an image of Windows XP Professional SP3. This has a whole lotta software and settings. The only thing that doesn’t work is I cant RDP in. Everything else is peaches. The error I get is: Event Type: Error Event Source: TermDD Event Category: None Event ID: 50 Description: The RDP protocol component "DATA ENCRYPTION" detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client. So I get this error. It doesn’t happen on the original image. It only happens after I run NewSID. So RDP works on the original image and breaks after NewSID. Hi, I've got an LG viewty and was able to connect before using the LG PC software. Now, although it recognises the phone, I'm getting the message 'failed to connect' on the computer and 'failed to connect - conflict' on the phone. I have 2 accounts setup on my Vista Ultimate machine. One is an administrator account and the other is a standard account. Is there a way to set up a task on the administrator account that will also run on the standard account? If you need more details let me know. Thanks
