We have some kind of I/O issue on our Server 2003 machine. At first I thought it might be a network problem but, based on my experiment below which involves no network traffic at all, I think it's something else. Here's the experiment: 1. Create two folders on the desktop called 'A' and 'B' 2. Turn on sharing on folder 'B' 3. Place a 200 MB test file in folder 'A' 4. Copy file from 'A' to 'B' -- takes just a few seconds. 5. Click Start/Run and run \\server\b 6. Copy file from 'A' to \\server\b -- takes ten minutes! 7. Map drive Z to \\server\b 8. Copy file from 'A' to Z: -- also takes ten minutes! Why the slowness with mapped drive or UNC …

In "my pictures" when I try to "copy to cd" the cd writing wizard begins and tells me the process takes about 8-9 minutes. Near the end the last 2-3 minutes takes closer to 5 then it kicks out my cd and tells me there is an "error in the writng process". I copied some photos once before so I know my cd-rw drive is enabled. I've also tried right clicking on the photo file and using the Select Send To..CD drive option . It tells me there is no cd in the drive. I've tried numerous cd and cd-rw disks. Am I missing a step or do I have a bug? Thanks for any help.

Hello We have just deployed an application to our users using Windows 2003 terminal services. As far as I can tell, all of our timeout values for idle/disconnected sessions seem to be working fine. The only problem is that when users work on other applications for a while and leave the terminal app idle (for maybe 30 minutes or more), the terminal app is frozen/hung for 30 seconds or so when they return to it. For instance, they will click a menu in the terminal application and nothing will happen. If they do nothing and wait for 20 seconds or so, all the sudden the menu appears and everything works as it should. No notification from the terminal server a…

Hello. I am hoping someone here can help me, or direct me to the proper Usenet group. Before installing Vista SP1, I was using VPN to connect my Palm Centro to my PC. Since installing SP1, I cannot get the Routing and Remote Access service to start. I have tried at least 3 KB solutions including setting permissions on 3 files, removing all network adapters in safe mode then rebooting, removing all non-Microsoft services and doing a "Clean" boot, setting a few registry keys. It will not start. The errors are less than helpful. I get "Unable to load C:\Windows\System32\iprtrmgr.dll." but the file exists in the correct location, is the correct version an…
