Does anyone know how to make this disapear: http://www.mc-npl.org/capture.jpg I'm using Windows Vista Business 32bit sp1 and i use a program called down psshutdown.exe by sysinternals. It worked perfectly with XP Pro but i'm getting an issue. When i run the same script remotely from a PC, on the same named computer (gates15) for example it does do the shutdown timer and does work but i can't view the message that displays though. I fired up Vista Ultimate speech recognition the other day. I went completely through the tutorial with no trouble. Then when I actually started trying to us it, when it comes up, it says "starting" then "Listening", then, after about 10 seconds it says "Off". I turn it on by clicking the button, it stays on "listening" for 10 more seconds and then goes off. Any ideas?

I am using an old piece of code (someone else's) which tries to write to my "My Documents" folder. I know that this is a junction and all the good stuff, and should 'just work.' However for _one_ of the account on my system, when the code runs its reports that it can't write to "My Documents". I have tried setting the permissions on that accounts "My Documents" and Documents folders to match that of users that don't have this problem, but that doesn't seem to help. It is almost as if there may be permission settings I can't access. Any suggestions? -- montsaroff

After initial boot of the server (factory install) the server was joined to the 2003 AD domain. Prior to rebooting I noticed that I was unable to make any configuration changes to the Firewall i.e. add exceptions. Upon rebooting the firewall service was not running and when I tried to restart it, received a message saying that one of it's dependant services (BFE) was not started. Starting the BFE resulted in an error 5: Access is denied. This occurred in both local and domain admin accounts. Moving the server to a seperate OU that denies all GPOs resulted in the same issues as did a gpupdate/reboot. Setting BFE to run as the domain admin resulted in …

Hi, I had to reinstall WinXp-home due to technical problems. After reinstalling, I cannot access the voice playback (control panel>sound&voice>voice tab, test sound etc..), all the options in most of the tabs shaded gray i.e. cannot be activated! I have Windows XP home with fax console--love it. Problem: No long distance service on my land line--I use calling cards. I need to send a long distance fax using my calling card and can't figure out how to set a dialing rule (or manual dial would be my goal) which allows for the "prompts", i.e., enter "2" to speak English and then pause to enter my calling card pin number. Any clues? I'm fine with local faxes but any long distance ones, I'm at a loss.
