We've a very strange problem in one of our server, i.e. NIC ordering in windows 2003 server always got changed automatically when we reboot the server. We want the NIC to be in one particular order for our application to work. hello, I'm hoping someone could help me with a problem I have with my computer. I have a machine that is built from: intel q6600 processor - overclocked to 3.0 ghz (cooled with termaltake) gigabyte x48-ds5 ati hd4850 2 * 2gb crosair memory (slightly overclocked) enermax 620w liberty power supply 500 gb seagate harddisk. installed - x64 vista when I resume my computer from sleep. it comes back to windows normally and then it hangs after a few seconds. to try and fix the problem, I already installed the latest ATI drivers. but it didnt help. I have several directories under my web root. These directories are tied to virtual dirs. All is well and there are no issues, however when I delete files within a certain directory (not withstanding that it is a virtual dir), the virtual dir display in mmc show a stop sign. AND, the dir security settings show that USERS has FC, no one else. If I then change the perms on this particular dir to inherit and prop al the way down, the stop sign disappears and the appropriate groups have the correct perms in the dialog. Hello everyone, For the last 3 days, I have been getting " white screen " often. It just covered the entire screen, and the only way to get out of it was to reboot. I have Spybot S/D, Avast and SuperAntispyware ( both free editions ). UAC , Windows Defender, Firewall , are all enabled. Everthing updated. Can someone tell me the reason(s) of the problem, and the solution ? Thank you. PS. I have recently installed an e-mail program called IncrediMail. Nothing else. -- t-4-2

When click on Start ORB icon, Pin-To-Start Menu programs show first and have to click on All Programs to view those. Is there a way to reverse this order and have All Programs immediately appear first when click on the ORB Start icon?

Hello, In Vista, when I modify a file in the drivers folder I don't see a related event in the Event Viewer. I modify %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and append a comment to it. I've tested this on non-domain machines and it works, listing a 3004 Event ID, but it's not working on domain members. Does anyone know why this might be? Defender is running, and everything in real-time protection is checked (except for "Software that has not yet been classified for risks" and "Changes made to your computer by software that is permitted to run"). There are no path location exceptions. Thank you~

I'm flommoxed. Without installing or changing anything in particular, my sound stopped working in some non-windows apps, and not in others. I'm running vista ultimate as I have been for some time. Winamp will immediately move quickly down its playlist without displaying any error firefox won't error on youtube videos either, displaying the video fine--just no sound. ie and wmplayer operate perfectly. media center and video games operate fine too. I'm having real trouble with any google-fu restricting to when only some apps are having trouble with sound, as opposed to no sound at all. I was looking through my old postings and found this one. I may as well give an update. I never did install the second copy of XP. The video card was second hand, and the seller explained it was my problem -it worked OK under SP1. The $350 (second hand!) video capture card sat in its box waiting for new SP2 drivers. They never happened. Life moved on. I bought a USB video capture box. It works fine. I gave the capture card to a friend who uses Linux on the of-chance there are Linux drivers for it. We live in an area that suffers from occasional power failures. On my home network I have three Windows XP machines two Ubuntu 8.04 and one Vista Ultimate. After a power failure, all machines except Vista reconnect seamlessly to the router (DLink DSL G604T). The only way I can get Vista to reconnect is by a tedious process of trial and error involving disconnecting all the other machines and rebooting the router, and running it's setup wizard over and over again. Has anyone else come across this? I've had friends visit with their Vista laptops and get the same thing. All other OSes I try seem fine. Any ideas?
