Hi, I've 2 Windows 2008 Domain Controllers with intermittent event id 2012 ( While transmitting or receiving data, the server encountered a network error. Occassional errors are expected, but large amounts of these indicate a possible error in your network configuration. The error status code is contained within the returned data (formatted as Words) and may point you towards the problem. ) Both DC are already installed to the latest Windows Updates, unable to find any clues to this issue for Windows 2008. Appreciate any help. Thanks

Greetings, We have our first Vista (64 bit untimate/sp1) machine in this Department and have a security related problem. We do a lot of scripting and much of this is with perl. We added the Active State Perl: http://www.activestate.com/index.mhtml If I run a script that creates a directory within my own space and authority, under user\name\documents, the secutiry permissions on the newly created directory are totally crazy. I am listed under "group or users names" but have no permissions set and cannot set them. The icon next to the folder name indicates it is shared but properties indicates it is not shared. If I try to move a folder with explorer…

As Paul mentioned in Part 1 of this post, we’ve really focused on making your everyday browsing experience better. In addition to the useful changes he talked about, we’ve made IE8 even more useful with integrated services so that you can easily accomplish the common things you do on the web – search for a product, check the weather, map an address, and more) In Beta 1, we showed how IE8 could be better with services with features like Accelerators and Web Slices (BTW, Accelerators are the same as the Beta 1 Activities with an updated name and icon). For Beta 2 we have even more features that help you use your favorite sites in new ways. Check out these features…

Tnx, Lucky Lady worked for me, too, for XP SP3. Also, a part of my problem could have been a virus. When I clicked on the link to d'load the WGA Diag Tool, BitDefender announced it had found a virus in the path, c:\Docu....ADiag[1].exe. They called it Generic.Malware.SYkd.64E1CCB4. After quarantine, ran the Tool, and the install went as usual. I have a few servers that have ports open and listening for data, but I've found some security vulnerabilities with leaving them open. The ports are needed to talk between several known servers. Does anyone know a way to make it so only the servers that need to talk to each other can access the open port, any other server/machine that tries to hit the port gets server refused or something of that nature? I could have it done with a lot of firewall rules on my routers, but I really want this taken care of on the servers rather then through the routers. Ideas oh smart admins?

On both of my Dell desktops, I am having the same problem in Display Properties/Power Schemes. I set it to turn off monitor after 10 minutes, and "apply". Many times, the next day, when I leave either computer, the monitor fails to turn off after 10 minutes. If I redo the setting, it goes off that day, but the problem starts again after rebooting. Each system has a different brand monitor (Dell, NEC). The NEC is more problematic. I have searched web for solutions to no avail. Any suggestions as to solving this? XP is always updated, and even if I turn off all tasks running in backround, problem persists.
