Im using a laptop with Vista (Business) and IIS 7 for development associating multiple hosts with the same (local 127.0.0.01) IP address Currently I edit the hosts file manually to perform the equivalent of a wildcard DNS entry As far as I know the local HOSTS file does not support the inclusion of a single record DNS wildcard A record So I have to specify every host individually (and there are a lot). It quite time consuming double checking these against my IIS host headers Is there an alternative approach that can be installed on the same machine which will allow me to simple define a single wildcard A record which points to 127.0.0.1 …

I have a new color printer on the domain at our high school. This is on a Windows 2003 domain. Is there a way to restrict printer access by IP address, instead of users? In the old NT4 domain, we could restrict users to logging in from 1 - 8 specific machines by IP, or the entire domain. Is there something similar in AD for this? There are 800 kids in this high school, and maybe 200 of them will possibly use one of the 5 machines that should have access to this printer. But if they are in another classroom, for example, they should not be allowed to use that printer. Can this be accomplished? Thanks in advance!

Hello Community, does anyone have a detailed description (beside the one from BMadden) how the License Check is done for a Client? I have an issue with a Dual NAT connection and the Winlogon does never happen, so I assume it's stuck at the validation check of the TS cal. Thanks for the replies Carsten

Hello! I am Sameer Chabungbam, one of the Program Managers on the JScript Team. The recently released Beta 2 of Internet Explorer 8 contains a lot of improvements which are aimed at making developing web applications on Internet Explorer 8 easier and more productive. One of these improvements is the JScript Profiler in Developer Tools, which provides critical JScript related performance data to a web developer that helps identify and fix performance related issues. We believe the Profiler is going to be a very helpful tool to fine tune the performance of the scripts in a web application. It is lightweight, easy-to-use and provides the following features: [*]Provid…
