On my new HP dv7t laptop I tried to make an incremental backup before I tried to transfer folders and files etc. from my desktop. The laptop has 2 - 250 GB hard drives. It made the whole backup onto my second drive and I guess it wiped out the first drive. I tried to reset to an earlier date (before I did the transfer) . I now do not have any backup at all (just the discs I made when I opened the machine) for Windows Vista Home Premium. Do I now reinstall the Windows Vista Home Premium from my discs? Will that automatically restore it to the place the orig. Restore backup was. (hp does not send ANY discs)? As I am typing this, I went to the laptop an…

Hello all, I'm really hoping someone can help me with this problem, as I've been struggling with it for the past week. When browsing through a network drive, most of the folders work fine, but clicking on certain folders will lag/freeze Windows Explorer. If I click the affected folder and leave it for about 15-30 seconds, it will highlight itself, and then I can open it. This has only started being an issue in the past week or so. I've created a shortcut directly to the folder(s) on my desktop, and clicking on them from there will open them with no lag at all. There are video files in these folders (not in the direct root of the folder I'm having the issue…

After this my OS Partition goes corrupted with bluescreens etc. I tryed to repair something but without success. Unfortunately my partition information seems also lost during my trying to solve the problem. This means everytime when I try to boot with installation DVD ant type in "diskpart: list volumes" then I could see Boot Partition, CD-Drive but no bitlocker partition. The command "Diskpart: list partition" shows the encrypted bitlocker partitions. Now I would like to extract my data partition with the Bitlocker Repair Tool (http://support.microsoft.com/kb…

I am sending WM_KEYDOWN messages from one window to another. This works OK in English. In e.g. French, with the target window using a French keyboard, I can use VkKeyScanEx to find out what key to send for most characters, like for 'ç', wParam is VK_9. But VkKeyScanEx is useless for characters that are entered using a dead key, like 'â' is the sequence wParam = VK_OEM_6 (a dead key) followed by wParam = VK_A. Is there some other function that will tell me how to convert a character into the proper dead key sequence for a given keyboard? Thanks, Bob

This is going to give a hard time to any Vista or Mac. KDE brings to GNU/Linux the cool and bling factor with a complete arsenal of applications and tools with which you can conquer even Mars. While Windows enjoys the rich ecosystem where third-party players sell applications at a heavy price for the platform, in the world of Lin…
