ok, so i found out which update caused my problem. It was KB951944 for office 2007. I had gone through the installations one by one. When this one caused the problem, i did a system restore and then DID NOT install KB951944. have not had a problem since. -- aziraphale77

Tried the acl fix and it didn't work. It went through and did its thing but I still get the error when starting office -- kawasabi

2 days in a row after Windows did the auto update and auto restart my PC is hung up on the Windows shutting down screen the next morning.Anyone else get this? Those 3 Office 2003 updates still aren't going through also.(KB956077,KB953404,and KB954478)Has anyone found the fix that works?

Recently, when I try to use Nokia PC Suite, I am met with this error. I don't know if this was caused by a Windows update, but I cannot find a fix for it. When I run the PC Suite, this error pops up constantly until I use Task Manager to close the process down. Nokia aren't coming up with any answers for this, so I wondered if it was a known problem to Microsoft.

Well I think I found out why my protected storage started going haywire. I was reading some guide about clearing it and dunno why, but did it. Now my system is constantly trying to access a protected storage that is not there (since the system generated a new one, but never updated the rest of the system). Anyways, Is there anyway to reset my protected storage properly so that it takes a effect system-wide so that my Vista stops giving me the Protected Storage popup anytime anything has a Login box? It does it on websites and programs that have login fields. Vista x64 Ultimate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar problem with a custom built machine. The screen would freeze and I would lose control of my mouse and keyboard. I would be forced to hard-reboot. After 3 weeks I noticed audiodg.exe was creating a huge amount of handles without releasing them (in the hundreds of thousands). While your problems might not be caused by audiodg.exe -- it could be caused by another process. I recommend you do the following: Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE to bring up task manager. Then switch to the performance tab and verify that the number of handles are not increasing rapidly. Mine would increase at about 3-10 handles per second when audio was playing. I…
