I am not sure if this is a Vista problem or a W2K3 problem so please forgive the cross post. I have a laptop running Vista SP1 and a domain controller running Server 2003. Everything works just fine until I reboot the laptop at which point the server freezes completely and needs to be rebooted brutally. There are no relevant or interesting events in the event logs of either machine and in fact the laptop goes on functioning normally with no apparent problems (except of course that it can't access files on the server etc.) after such an event. I'm having an issue with a Windows 2008 Std (x86 install) server that I recently put in place of an aging Windows 2000 file server. After I renamed the original server to a new name and changed the IP. I then renamed the new 2008 server to the name of the old server and gave it the old IP. After rebooting I try to logon as a domain account and it stays forever at "Please wait for the user profile service". I can logon as the local admin without an issue. Also the shares are completely accessible to domain users and my Backup Exec server has no problem connecting to it? Any thoughts on what is going wrong. Thank you in advance, Sean
