    i freshly installed xp on my system and not its not opening the c drive. on double click nothing happens. when i right click on the drive, the first option i see is 'Auto' which is highlighted. it shold rather be 'Open'. when i click on open of explore, the drive opens normally. can someone tell me how to restore it back to Open?

    Hello, Not sure if this got answered or not but here goes from a non pro. I had this problem and fought with it for 6 hours. Finally, after reading a lot of the posts, I went to the microsoft express download site and wrote down all the download names. KB905474,KB110806,KB954154,ETC. then instead of trying to get the microsoft system to download all 11 critical updates, i just typed in each individual download name and downloaded it. I rebooted each time and it all got downloaded.
