Hello. I have a GPO that executes a script at machine startup (VBScript) that are checking some reg values if one of our applications should be fresh installed, upgraded or is up to date. It also copies some files when run the first time and some other small stuff. It have been working fine here for say 3 years on both XP and w2000 machines. Now i am trying to implement Vista machines here. But they refuse to execute the script or as it seems, even start reading it. I have tested with just a simple vbscript, but that dont run either. Same problem here: I press the power button on my laptop (which I've configured to 'Hibernate' the machine), it goes to sleep and then wakes again straightaway and displays the password prompt (because it's set up to prompt for password on waking). I enter my password and try shutting down through the Start menu instead. After installing SP3, and a user has logged in, and then logged off (logged off, not shut down or re-started) the login screen appears showing the different user accounts. Using winxp pro sp2, intel 2800, 2meg ram,80 gig free hard drive. Yesterday auto update tried to install sp3 and failed twice so I canceled it. Used the computer for several more hours with no problem. Turned it on a few hours ago and it loads as far as the sign in screen - choice of me or administrator. It always loaded directly into window since I never set up a password - don't need one. Dragging and dropping the icon to a FOLDER on my links bar creates an access denied!##%%!! I am sick of this type of security. The stupid thing is I can drag and drop it to the links bar, cut it and PASTE it into the folder. Thanks, Microsoft, for the added extra steps in the name of security. It's about my girlfriend's Vista based PC. It started displaying Cyrillic characters on some web pages and also in dialog windows of some installers just like the context menu of Winrar. The regional settings in Control Panel are correct in all respect. As of the default web browser (IE7) however, the Fonts (General Tab) are set to Cyrillic and it cannot be changed. I try to set it to Latin based but this setting cannot be saved and the setting (General>-appearance>Fonts>Language Script) remains Cyrillic whatever I do.
