Again, I thank all of you for input. The problem turned out to be a need for a 'Firm-ware' update,, even though the modem was only purchased a few months ago. Moral of story,,, dont use 'virginbroadband' as an isp,, cos' Richard will be out Ballooning across the country rather than looking after his customers. Thanks to all again.

After installing a security update for Office XP I'm getting a pop up message asking to accept end user license before I can use Word or Excel. All would be fine if it wasn't the terminal server where users connect to access Office applications. They can't accept the license as you need administrative privileges to do that so basically they get stuck till they contact me so I can log in as admin and accept the license for them. How do I set them up so they can accept that license themselves when it pops up again? yaro

Issue: Generally performance ok on x64, all drivers up to date as are patches. When running 32bit applications such as IE or even mpsreports the cpu utilisation jumps to almost 50% making everything very poor. This obviously has issues for a lot of applications. Any thoughts? Thanks TC

Or someone was testing a sledgehammer on its scull. Now its posting under several names and trying to argue with itself... what is this monkey smoking? SICK! I would normally feel sorry for such a tormented soul.....

Design criteria such as standard compliance, performance, reliability and security framed the design of IE8 as whole, for new as well as existing features. As a result, CSS expressions are no longer supported in IE8 standards mode. This change was announced previously on the IE blog, however, this post will provide a few more details about that decision. The following FAQ will give a quick overview of the feature, the rationale behind our design decision and what it may mean for your own site. What is a CSS expression ? Also known as ‘Dynamic Properties’, this proprietary CSS extension was introduced in Internet Explorer 5. Long before JavaScript libraries such …

I am running Windows Server 2008 x64. I want me server to take an action from a batch file if the processor time gets above some threshold. I set up a data collector set in Reliability and Performance, and set an alert task to kick of the batch file. I also set it to write an alert to the Application Event Log. Neither of these work. If I set a Perf Mon or trace, they operate as expected. However, when I add Alert, the Alert Action and Alert Taks both fail. Interestingly, if there is no Alert Action, the data collector set stops (it will start, then immediately stop with no error.) This does exactly the same thing on two different servers. It lo…

(exception processing massage c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf7c 4 75b6bf7c 75b6bf7c) This comes up every time it seems that my system is being challenged or over extended. I found that my ( CD-ROM ), (CD-RW): drivers were crowded in (driver detail) by other drivers from another application. I then found a driver that was some how pulling the resources from my cd drivers and giving the memory to the application. (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\cbidf2k.old ) This is the driver and it's path, I found that this driver was loaded at the same time as the application I found dragging my system recourses from my cd-rom drivers. I just changed (cbidf2k.sys) to (cbidf2…

I've just recently found that my task bar will no longer auto hide itself. It will when I initially boot up but soon after I start using programs it no longer hides. All I've done is add a new antivirus program but I've tried disabling it and it still does this... Any ideas what could be causing it to think it has the mouse cursor over it when it doesn't? Thanks for any help you can give! Avatar

hi, have server08 and sbs 03 in same domain with a couple of other pc's. outside of the domain but still on the internal network cant ping or get mail into exchange on the 08 box, in the domain can communicate fine with the server. have been messing with the advanced firewall all week but nothing i do makes any difference, surely it cant be that hard to allow mail in and let me ping/rdp without having to put my laptop into the domain.turning the firewall off seems to have no effect. i have read that gp manages the firewall at a higher level than inbound rules, any ideas?
