I cannot install the Windows Desktop Experience on Windows 2008 server trial. This is a clean install. I tried updating windows, all updates installed successfully, except for two which gave this error: 0x80070057 ERROR_INVALID_PARAMETER The parameter is incorrect. I was able to install the two remaining updates on the second attempt. Then I tried installing Windows Desktop Experience again, it says OK restart needed, after the restart, before the logon screen it says Stage 3 ... counts to 100% and restarts, then it indicates checking the registry for errors and restarts again. After restarting a PC with windows XP sp3 (or sp2 as well) I login into it from another PC with remote desktop client. I get a Terminal Server shell instead of the regular one. When I click on Start button I see the "Windows Terminal Server" on the left blue bar. This behavior causes several problems for applications (msde setup failed for example). The only workaround I found is to login into the PC locally first and then to connect to it remotely. In such case I get the correct shell. Is there any resolution for the problem? Thanks.

had XP SP2 and could heard sound from PC and web sites. upgraded to SP3 can still hear sounds from PC but now from certain music store sites i cannot hear sound from the sample tracks available from example albums ( stores like HMV) no doubt a setting has changed but dont know where to look as the problem seems to be restricted to a specific area help would be much appreciated thankyou

I burned a dvd with pictures on it and when playing it on my vista computer it shows a file name under the box but just a magnifying glass in each icon. I've tried small, medium, large, etc but it still shows the same. I'm sure its some setting but I can't find it. TIA for any help. Bob

You think you might be able to help me? I have a tablet pc with a product key, but I have a retail version of the software. This is a gateway pc. I have no restore disks and the original hard drive was damaged and had to be replaced. Gateway does not offer restore cd's for this and only have the retail one (like I have) to send to me (that does not even have the sata drivers to where I can even install windows on the computer). I know how to change the PID # inside the setupp.ini file, but not sure what it needs to be. However, this important udate does not come with the automatic update mechanism. I had to download and install it manually. Hi all, I have a multi-site client using Windows Enterprise (32bit) server 2003 in NLB with 2 TS servers. They have various printers on hte remote sites. We have a 10Mb Leased line in the main office with VPN connection to the remote offices. Remote offices have 4Mb Leased lines. Internet traffic is sent via a separate ADSL line and all office work is over the VPN's The VPN is set to allow ALL traffic, so no restrictions on ports etc, all traffic is allow both ways but only through the tunnels (i.e. no direct connection to the internet via the leased lines/routers.) Trying to logon, I get "incorrect password" the moment I press a key. Every time except one, I then get the chance to put in the correct password. One time the screen dropped the logon box and hung there doing nothing. I used Ctrl/Alt/Del to make it return to the logon screen. I have scanned for virus and spyware. I have had lots of trouble with this ***** computer. Freezing desktop is the usual thing, but there is a link. When I use CtrlAltDel on the frozen desktop, sometimes I get an error that the computer has failed to create a security dialog, or something similar. Any help would be wonderful.
