We have a Netapps san that we use as a file share. We are migrating to another supposed trusted domain in our AD structure They will shut down our existing domain. Are there any tools that anyone is aware of that will map existing NTFS permissions either by user or groups and convert or add permissions for the new domain. I am sure there has to be some to help do this rather than me trying to go to our fileshare server and manually click on all folders and reset the permissions. This would take days. Thanks in advance, for any help!

I have the same issue.. For some reason, after trying to sync a network folder once, it seems impossible to remove it from systray. I killed mobsync.exe manually, even ran HijackThis to see whether or not it is in startup somewhere, but after a couple of minutes it just 'appears' again in my systray. Anyone a clue how to switch it off? Why isn't there an option in sync center? Why don't I have full control as an end-user? -- harrynak Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com

I have a laptop running Vista and it conencts to my network wirelessly. Has been for awhile. Today when I try and login, I get the error message "Windows Security. The server is not responding properly. Verify that Credential Manager Server is properly installed on the target server." Sometimes it will say "Tne system could not access the Credential Manager Server." I cannot even login locally as the administrator. What could be wrong, and how can I fix this? Thanks!

Hi, I'm using XP Professional version 2002 with SP3, with Office 2003 Small Business. There are three updates that won't install properly: The .NET Framework (KB928366), according to the update history, is forever being successfully installed, only to be installed yet again everytime I shut down the computer (automatic updates). Two security updates for Office 2003, (KB954478) and (KB953404) won't install. These things started occuring over a year ago after a period of not using my computer for about a month (August 2007). Are there solutions to these problems (in layman's terms) or is it time to switch to a Mac? Any advice anyone has would be …

Ok, I have gone through this before and it is time to rehash it. I hibernate my laptop every night using Shutter.exe. http://www.den4b.com/screenshots.php?project=Shutter and it works fine. By that I mean, not only does it hibernate my laptop at the scheduled time but it also allows my scheduled wake-up tasks to run, which Rundll.exe,powrprof.dll SetSuspendState did not do. It has in its parameters one that if true will DisableWakeEvent. So ,what I need is one of you experts here to tell me exactly what to type in my Scheduled Tasks Run box when setting up the task. We have two Vista computers. We keep our files on a Desktop computer and use peer to peer networking to access them from the laptop. Every once in a while, the desk top will not allow the laptop to save a file it has open. And the desktop will not shut down or restart. It will not shut down and has to be physically powered down. Once the desktop has rebooted everything returns to normal even if the document is still open on the laptop. This issue did get better with one of the updates in July, but it still happens. Any ideas? Microsoft did not have anything useful except to uninstall Anti-virus to see if that was it.

Hi, We are also facing the same problem. After trying many options, I found one solution. With this I am able to send the message in Plain Text. In the new message, there is menu option called 'Format'. When you select this it is showing two options. Rich text and Plain Text. The problem is with Rich Text. If Plain text is selected, I am able to type and send the message. I hope this will help. VM -- vm1958 Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com

Hello group members, After installation of some software on my fresh install of Vista x86, I have trouble reading and writting to my USB flash drive efficiently: it takes me 4 minutes to see the context menu pop up when I right click a file on the flash drive, and it takes 30 seconds to response to a delete click by firing up a question dialogue box, copying a 15Mb file takes 10-15 minutes. The particular USB flash drive works blazingly fast on my other XP machine. I tried reformatting it, and it performs the same with these issues on Vista. Here are some other symptoms: - The Vista machine read and write on my other USB hard drive (not flash) without any …
