After the Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) role is added to a Windows Server 2008 server, running vssadmin list writers generates output that does not include System Writer and generates Event ID 513 from CAPi2 in the Application log. Text of this event: Cryptographic Services failed while processing the OnIdentity() call in the System Writer Object. Prior to adding the AD DS role, running vssadmin list writers generates output that does include System Writer and does not generate Event ID 513. The user's Application Data directory is mainly there for 'userization' so that the data is different for every useraccount. If the settings or data are to be per-user then you should put it here. For data which applies to all users, the approved route is to put the data into the All Users\Application Data profile. The issue here is that most people (and most backup programs!) will not even recognise that data is being stored here, and this creates a backup/data loss issue. You could (as is being done) put the data in Program Files, and change its permissions. Key point is that this is not approved, and may raise problems with future Windows release…

Hi. Everytime I resume from hibernation, my system error log records this entry: Code: -------------------- Source: Ntfs Event ID: 137 EventData: 1C0004000200300002000000890004C000000000480100C000000000000000000000000000000000480100C0 The default transaction resource manager on volume Z: encountered a non-retryable error and could not start. I noticed my event viewer in xp, doesnt display ServiceControlManager events under system, good or bad i see all others. IS there a way to fix this when i usually boot pc i see loads of ServiceControlManager events info & sometimes errors but now I cant see any? Please Help

I would like to setup volume shadow copy to an external network drive. Can you have volume shadow copy do this? What I am trying to do is backup all of are critical infomation to an external drive and take that drive offsite for disaster recovery. Thanks for the help
