Jason Hiner has written over at ZDnet and article which lists the top 5 reasons why Windows Vista failed.I agree on only two of his five reasons. Below are my comments on each his reasons:5.* Apple successfully demonized Vista - why do people keep on putting Apple on the equation? Jason himself has outlined that [...] More...

I'm looking for a sidebar clock that shows a map of the world and where it's day and night. I used to have an old 16-bit application that would do this and run under 32-bit OS's, but I've upgraded to 64-bit Vista so I could expand my memory and it won't run there. I'd love to have a similar clock for the sidebar. Does anybody know where I can find one? Thanks! -- "Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?" "Oh, I think so, Brain! But doing a clog dance in actual clogs will give me awful blisters."

Hello I have numerous desktops running windows XP who's users have a policy puching out corporate wallpaper, which requires active desktop to be enabled. The same users logon to a Win2k terminal server, and active desktop (with it being enabled for the user account) gives every user the homepage when they logon. Is it possible to have this feature disabled? I think it must be in the default user profile somehow but unsure, can someone help? Thanks

I know this is an old thread, but I get asked this often Right-click on "Downloaded Program Files" Folder>Left-click Properties Un-check "Read-Only" box>click Apply. When Attribute changes Pop-up appears>click on OK to change the files (which are what cannot be touched) The Damaged Files should now be able to be deleted. Make sure to change the folder back to read only, to preserve it from being messed with(by a hacker or rouge website) you should be fine then Dejavu2u -- Dejavu2u ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dejavu2u's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/dejavu2u.htm View this thread…

Hello, a few days ago, a strange printing issue occured at our site. We have an employee, who works on a WinXP Pro SP2 Workstation with a HP Color LaserJet 2550 attached via USB. She is connected to a Windows Server 2003 via mstsc 6.0.6000. Until the error occured, she could print. But since a few days ago, it is impossible to print from within the terminal session. We reinstalled the drivers, and the printer appears in the session, but it ist even impossible to print a testing site from the printer dialog. The dialog only says, that it is impossible to print. We also tested the registry hack, described in KB302361. Who could help me? Thanks, Andreas

In case you can't tell, I'm making a direct reference to Mr. Adam Albright. Now that you know where I stand on those issues, I can safely say that wily cutthroats like Adam are not born -- they are excreted. However unsavory that metaphor may be, Adam act…

I’ve just purchased a 1TB Buffalo Turbo external hard drive. Problem: my Seagate 320GB external hard drive has only about 20% free space left. Is it possible to have these 2 drives on at the same time and transfer direct from the Seagate EHD to the Buffalo EHD and so reduce the transfer time considerably? Both supplied FAT 32 formatted and are still so. Running XP Home SP3. Thanks - Andy

I have a client that is using Windows XP Pro SP3. His laptop is joined to a Windows SBS 2003 domain. He uses offline files to access files when he takes his laptop out of the office. He is synchronizing his Mapped "S" drive. All but three folders are synchronizing. Hi, I was printing something from a program called Guitar Pro and the program crashed in the middle of the job. After that I could not print at all so I rebooted. Now every time I reboot the print spooler crashes during start up so I can't even see the printer to try and delete the job and I can't add a new printer because it tells me the print spooler service is not running. It seems like that corrupt job is stuck in the queue somehow but I can't even see the printer to delete it. Would appreciate any suggestions on how to fix this. Thanks in advance, Steve

All - I have a Terminal Server Cluster that has been built. In my testing, I placed a user that has a large (2.5 GB) Exchange mailbox. When he launches Outlook 2007, it comes up, but he gets an hourglass for about 5 minutes. During that time, he can go on do other things, but when he comes back to Outlook, he gets the "Not Responding" or the white screen. Eventually, it comes back around and he's able to use it. He's not running in cache mode, because of running on TS. All patches have been applied to the servers in the cluster. I've disabled the add-ins that would allow me to. I know that the account size is an issue, but he didn't have the pr…
