Evening Ok, ive changed my default folder icon to the blue folder icon as can be seen in the attachment. My problem is that when vista generates thumbnails for the contents of the folder, the old yellow folder icon comes back. Is there any way to change those old yellow folder icons to my blue folder icons? I hope ive explained this correctly. Basically I still want to be able to see the contents of the folder within the folder icon, but I want to folder icon to be that blue folder icon. Ive attached a image for clarity. Thanks '[image: http://www.vistax64.com/attachments/vista-general/7203d1223854056-changing-folder-icons-thumbnails-jpeg.jpg] ' (http:…

Whenever I try to either block or unblock a contact by right clicking on it in the contact list the action won't be performed (the contact still shows in the same status as before attempting the change). When i right click the contact in my contact list it says either "unblock" or "block" as if they are blocked/unblocked but there's no red circle next to their name to say they are blocked in the first case. When I log out from MSN a sign will pop displaying the message:"Contact X (the one I tried to block/unblock) cannot be blocked/unblocked. Please try again later". Is this a server issue or a problem with my MSN installation? I haven't done any changes …

I went to the section described by Peter below. I couldn't get it to start manually at first either. Then I right clicked on"SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ)" and chose properties. Next I chose the "Log On" tab. I noticed that there is a user name and password already entered into a field. So out of curiosity I checked "Local System Account" instead. I then tried the windows Update again. IT FINALLY WORKED! I hope this saves someone else hours of headaches. Hi, I don't know if it is the right place to ask this question… Anyway, I was reviewing the latest Microsoft PAC structure (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc208628.aspx ) and I noticed that the Security Consideration mentions that “The signature of a PAC prevents elevation of privilege attacks. The signature MUST be verified to avoid these attacks.†I don’t understand how the PAC_SERVER_CHECKSUM signature with the server key can help to prevent a client to generate its own PAC and then use it to gain access to a remote service. My life is filled with Lamb and I dream about Da Lamb Chop and running through the woods with Da Baboon chasing me with Da Lamb Chop. That makes me Da Jerk. So I just sit at home eating Da Lamb Chop and spanking Da Baboon. That is what I call it. Da Baboon. So when I have my pants down around my ankles, I am playing with my Baboon.

I am experimenting with a configuration that redirects the C:\Users and C:\ProgramData folders to a USB memory stick. This allows me to always keep user data in personal care when travelling with the laptop. The redirection is done by setting the value of the ProfilesDirectory and ProgramData attributes in [Auto]Unattend.xml during Vista setup. This method is supported, albeit reluctantly, by Microsoft. To secure and enhance this configuration, I also: - encrypt the hard disk with BitLocker and the TPM key, TPM PIN, and USB startup key - encrypt the memory stick with BitLocker autounlock - lock down C:\ and S:\ (BitLocker) so that users cannot add dat…

Have installation of server 2k, running IE6, trying to run windows updates hangs IE6. terminating the processusing task manager then does something to IE that prevents it from ever being able to access microsoft updates again. Reinstalling IE 6 service pack 1 gets me back but trying to run microsoft updates locks up the browser and puts me back in the same circle. Has anyone figured a way out of this? I would like for XP Professional machines to be able to save text files to a shared folder on the server. However, once they are saved I would not like them to be able to get them back out, delete them, move them, or change them. At the same time I would like for them to be able to see that they are in there. I have been able to do this. There is one thing I don't like. Occasionally, my computer will not go into hibernation and when I return there are many small windows titled "mformat" with an error message about access violation. Normally they can be closed out but occasionally I have to reboot to get rid of them. The computer seems to function okay otherwise. I have an XP PRO operating system.
