(thought I had posted this question - was it removed by the moderator for some reason?) After I have been typing using pinyin input with the Microsoft IME in any chatroom, or instant messenger or Hotmail for a while, the Chinese characters cease, no pulldown box appears and the typed characters are echoed as entered, but in an altered font. The Language bar still Shows 'CH' selected although I change back to english, and return to Chinese, close the application and reopen it, I cannot restore the pinyin input process without rebooting. In Word, however the IME still works. I have a fully maintained Vista Business, and Office professional 2003. Can…

Hi, I am having trouble reading DVD+R disks after an apparently successful write to them under Vista Home Premium. Recently I used a utility to recover various files after accidentally deleting them and subsequently emptying the recycle bin. This operation came up with over 14,000 (~1.76GB) files that I now have to sort through to obtain the hundred or so that I need. The directory structure is in place and the disks finalised but the read lights on both my Pioneer DVD drives just flicker away endlessly. I begin to wonder then if there is a limit to the number of files allowed in a directory. I can view the files from the hard drive without any problem but …

Not exactly sure how to phrase my question... We use a remote support tool that is designed to run as a service. Under XP, we can log off of Windows and back on, and the support tool is still active. Under XP, we can re-boot the computer, and when it comes back up, the remote support tool is loaded, running as a service, and we can re-connect. However, with Vista we cannot do this. When we're connected remotely, if we log off, that's it. We can't re-connect until somebody at the host end logs in. We've disabled User Account Control, but this has not helped. I'm no expert at User Account Control, but it seems as if disabling it would help while o…
