We were previously capturing stats from our phone system via a serial port using HyperAccess. This is not available for WS2008. Is anyone aware of a way to easily capture this data to a text file on SW2008?

We have installed a four port modem in our Windows Server 2003 Domain Controller. This server is also used for file/print sharing. The goal was to have four printers that connect to each of the four ports on the modem so that users can decide what the outgoing number/line will be and print to the respective one. After installing the modem I can see all of the ports configured under fax services, but I can't seem to figure out how to make multiple fax printers. Is this possible? Thanks!

In WinXP I can setup/change under System->Advanced->Environment Variables the PATH variable in two ways: By changing the entry under "user variables" and under "system variables". Until now I thought that the "User variables" settings have priority over the system variables. So the sequence of PATHs I expected was PATH=%PATH%(from user variable%PATH%(from system variable) But as I had to notice this is NOT the case! When I type "set" at the command prompt then the system variable PATH come BEFORE user variable PATH. Is there a way to change the sequence? Sabine

I've posted a similar question here before, and seen the same question posed elsewhere, with no useful responses, so I'm trying again. Running fully patched, up to date, virus-proof and adware-proof, etc., Windows XP SP3, Office 2007. Often DDE-enabled file types open slowly. For example, if http links are set to open with DDE, it might take 5-10 seconds for the link to appear in the browser if DDE is disabled, it opens instantly. The machine has plenty of resources: Thinkpad x61 Dual core 2.0 GHz CPU 4 GB RAM relative recent fresh installation no extra services etc.. I've disabled the Network DDE service, which is the one suggestion I've seen out there…

I am not really sure where to go with this. I am currently at a loss. I am trying to optimize communications between our iSCSI SAN and Windows Server 2003 boxes. Right now I am doing test copies between two Server boxes but the issue exists when I copy between a host and the SAN. Basically my servers are transmitting packets with a maximum size of 61K. My test switch can only handle 1.5K. We are going to be using jumbo packets but the 61K is still over the amount that switch can handle. Now I do not experience this on file transfers between Windows Vista boxes. Can someone tell me if this is normal? Let me know if you need clarification. -- bry…

strata: the new ms cloud OS When I first talked about CLOUD OS in this newsgroup, fanbois like FRANK were clueless... -They didn't even know what I was talking about - They laughed at examples of new cloud OS that I mentioned.... -They couldn't imagine what would threaten dinosaur OS's like Vista - and they thought the current form of monster OS's like vista will be around forever. I explained to them the reasons why vista type of OS will die (good riddens) but of course the dorks never listen and learn... I guess that when MS announces "strata" though they will be calling it the best thing since sliced bread. Gee the vista fanbois are like …

Hello, The basic setup:-I have a WRT54GS Linksys wireless router, one PC, which is always on, is networked directly to the router via ethernet cable, and two PC's using linksys wireless adapters. One of these PC's is new and I have just set it up. My Problem:- When my new PC (wireless) is turned on, the network on it alone, is very slow UNLESS i turn on the laptop as well (also wireless). When that happens, the network traffic on the new PC works absolutely fine. So basically at the minute, in order to stream movies and copy files over on to the new wireless PC i *have* to have the laptop on as well! I figure this is something to do with the routing table…

This started recently and I have no idea why because at the time it started I hadn't installed anything or made any changes. I have Windows Vista Home Premium. Every time I boot I get a pop up that states Intel Alert Service has stopped working and shut down. I went to Add/Remove, clicked on the Intel Viiv and selected to change. But it isn't solving the problem. I have downloaded the Intel Viiv 1.7 but don't know if I should install it or not since it's not working to start with. Can anyone help, please? -- Nikilet ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nikilet's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/nikilet.htm…

Again, I thank all of you for input. The problem turned out to be a need for a 'Firm-ware' update,, even though the modem was only purchased a few months ago. Moral of story,,, dont use 'virginbroadband' as an isp,, cos' Richard will be out Ballooning across the country rather than looking after his customers. Thanks to all again.

After installing a security update for Office XP I'm getting a pop up message asking to accept end user license before I can use Word or Excel. All would be fine if it wasn't the terminal server where users connect to access Office applications. They can't accept the license as you need administrative privileges to do that so basically they get stuck till they contact me so I can log in as admin and accept the license for them. How do I set them up so they can accept that license themselves when it pops up again? yaro

Issue: Generally performance ok on x64, all drivers up to date as are patches. When running 32bit applications such as IE or even mpsreports the cpu utilisation jumps to almost 50% making everything very poor. This obviously has issues for a lot of applications. Any thoughts? Thanks TC

Or someone was testing a sledgehammer on its scull. Now its posting under several names and trying to argue with itself... what is this monkey smoking? SICK! I would normally feel sorry for such a tormented soul.....
