Prevent users to save on Desktop
by Guest Per Kr. Myra- 0 replies

Hi, I'm trying to prevent ordinary users to save files on the Desktop, but I have some problem with Vista. The users have roaming profiles. I have made one startup script that creates a local folder C:\Desktop , and set user rights to read and execute. I have a logonscript that sets the User Shell Folder "Desktop" to C:\Desktop. The redirection works, and for XP clients all seems to work. When I log on to a Vista client, the profile wont load correct and the user gets a temporary profile. As far as I can see the Vista client doesn't add anything to the desktop at logon, so I can't see why it fails for Vista and it works for XP. Hope someone c…

Remember Username Resume from Sleep Vista Business 32
by Guest gt57- 0 replies
My system recently changed behavior after resuming from sleep. The previous behavior was my username was remembered after resume from sleep and all I had to enter was my password. Now, when resuming from sleep, I must enter my username and password. I am on a domain, so I could have been subjected to a updated Group Policy. I do not have good access to those who control Group Policy. At about the same time, I deleted a couple of of stale domain users accounts by deleting their folders in c:\users. I now only have my user account, the Public folder, and the Administrator account in c:\users. When I reboot, my domain\username name is remembered. But when …

WinMail Vista 64 can't see/use Personal Digital Certs
by Guest Fast Turtle- 0 replies
I'm having problems with Win Mail accessing any personal certs - instead it wants to get digital id's and goes to the Office 2007 marketplace website with IE. These certs were just issued by Thwate Freemail and according to IE I've got the private keys, so there shouldn't be any problems with them. I Do have Word/Excel/Powerpoint of Office 2007 Pro (Access and Outlook available if needed), which could explain some of the Office 2007 Marketplace for Digital Certs issue but I'd like to get my new certs working in Win Mail so any help is appreciated.
