This guide details the steps required to perform a live migration of Hyper-V virtual machines from one node in a Windows Server 2008 R2 failover cluster to another node. Live migration overview Live migration is a new Hyper-V feature in Windows Server 2008 R2, which requires the failover clustering role to be added and configured on the servers running Hyper-V. Live migration allows you to transparently move running virtual machines from one node of the failover cluster to another node in the same cluster without a dropped network connection or perceived downtime. In addition, failover clustering requires shared storage for the cluster nodes. This can include an iSCSI…

multiple .inf file templates applied on the same 2003 server?
by Guest Martin Williams- 0 replies
Hello all, I have been given two .inf template files to apply to a 2003 Std. Ed. SP2 server. I have looked through each .inf file and they seem to have different, not conflicting settings. My questions are Can I apply both templates to the server (via the import method) and will they both apply? Or will applying the second .inf file replace the settings generated by the first? Presumably any conflicting values held by each .inf file would be updated. So for example if 1.inf changed a password setting and 2.inf changed the same setting, the setting would be taken from 2.inf I i applied them in order? Any help/advice/links would be greatly appr…
