I’ve mentioned in several previous posts how Internet Explorer 8 displays pages in its most standards compliant mode by default – a configuration that emphasizes interoperability. This creates some challenges with regards to compatibility with existing web content. Some of today’s web pages expect the older, less interoperable behavior from IE and, as a result, don’t necessarily work as expected in IE8’s standards-by-default mode. To address this, we built features like Compatibility View and the ‘EmulateIE7’ X-UA-Compatible tag – features that users and web developers can enable to make the browser more compatible with existing content. This post is a…

Hello, would you be please able to give me an authoritative answer whether (and then how) Windows Server 2008 (domain member) acting as a file server for EFS encrypted files can use CONSTRAINED delegation to obtain EFS encryption certificates for users from an enterprise CA? Currently, it works for me with UNconstrained delegation (the "trust computer for delegation to any service"), it normally obtaines kerberos tickets for several services such as CIFS/dc, ProtectedStorage/dc, LDAP/dc, GC/dc and HOST/ca etc. But when I switch it to the constrained ("trust computer for delegation to specified services only - kerberos only") and list the services ma…

Forgive me if this issue has been covered before. I am new to the list but couldn't find reference to it in older postings. I have had instances in which (1) files I deleted off the desktop reappeared after the next reboot (2) entries in my Start menu disappeared with no action on my part, and (3) favorites in IE8 reappear when restarted although I had deleted them in the previous session. Can anyone explain why this happens and what I can do about it? Paul -- Paul A. Crable Portland OR USA

Hey all. I generated an XML file from the SCW on a Windows 2003 R2 server. The problem I have with this is that it doesn't seem to like anyone manually modifying the file afterwards. If you manipulate or hack out items or services you do not want to touch (i.e. ), the SCW interface chokes on it when you try and edit the file again, says something about the file not being an SCW file. Basically what I want is a generic template that manipulates 10-15 services, adds few registry keys, etc. If I manually hack out all the stuff I do not want and add the stuff I do (registry keys) without corrupting the XML format, can I still apply this template using SW…
