As I have previously written, I have a habit of looking into my task manager and inspect the programs running in the background. Even if I am aware of all the applications I install, I am still surprised to see a lot of applications that I do not need running in the background. Rundll32.exe is an [...] More...

On my XP Pro SP3 system all of my SATA drives show up in Safely Remove Hardware. On my Server 2008 with Hyper-V none of my SATA drives show up in Safely Remove Hardware. The XP system has one ADDONICS AESNAPMRSA SNAP-IN SATA MOBILE RACK - STORAGE ENCLOSURE. The Server system has two. These allow me to plug in or remove a SATA drive while the system is running. On the XP system I simply select the drive in the Safely Remove Hardware window and press Stop then press OK and I can remove the drive. The Server 2008 system does not show the SATA drives as removable. If I connect a USB drive it does show as removable. Is this a known problem and is there a fix …

Hey i know this is probably a gigantic headache for most people. But every where i look people tell me to download an older version of MSN so i do but when i try to open it, it says i have to instal the newest version so i do that. Sometimes it work sometimes it doesn't. And i get the stupid DEP stuff. The times it works it works until i turn my computer off and then i get the DEP Message again. Any way to fix this? Thanks! -- JJJameson

Re: VISTA - IE7 SECURITY CERTIFICATE ERROR
by Guest jimcoufal- 0 replies

The same thing has happened to me after Microsoft sent Windows Defender updates on March 17th. Mine is more complex. Windows defender disappeared and I cannot download it again from Microsoft since the computer will not validate any certificates, even from the Microsoft site. (I have a legitmate version of Vista Home Premium) Norton techs remotely verified that I do not have a virus (although the symptoms are similar to conficker). I can't download ANY software and many websites (AA.com, Microsoft.com, etc all now have certificate error). Although I can still enter the sites, I cannot use anything that requires form data (JAVA, etc) since it bombs and I see …

Windows 7 builds 7077 and 7105 have leaked and downloads can be found at your favorite torrent site. Build 7077 is rumored to be from the release candidate ( RC ) branch. This means RC public release could be right around the corner. There are also rumors of other builds from this branch being compiled, but, they have not yet leaked. Build 7105 was also leaked by a Chinese tester. It was leaked as Chinese language version. Since a Russia site converted it to Russian and English and released it to torrent sites. Again do a search for build 7015 at your favorite torrent site and you should find it.

Server Perfromance Advisor
by Guest Kevin Gallagher- 0 replies

I am using Server Perfromance Advisor V2 to monitor System and Active Directory Perfromance. It allows me to use a network share to transfer data for reporting. It requires an account with admin level permissions to do this. Can anyone tell me if this negotiates securely or if I need to find some way to run it over SSL? It seems odd that it requires an ID and password for an admin level account but doesn't say how to secure this if you intend to use them. Any advice on SPA would be usefull.
