Actually on a serious note you don't know a crap about someone on the other end of your cable. I came to America w/$20 in pocket in made myself, I have MSEE and will get PhD soon. You were born here, let me guess - did you parents cover some college costs? Did you ever go hungry for WEEKS? Ever walked for 70 blocks in NYC because you didn't have enough for a subway fare? Lived 1 1/2 hours frm college? Had NO relatives, brothers/sisters to comfort you? My father came here at the age of 51, what kind of "high earner" could he become without English? He's been a Project Manager and Civil Engineer for 29 years, here he became a cheap liughting assembler at $7…

I have a smart client app that has been working without a hitch for weeks. This application requires interaction with some specific hardware devices, which requires specific driver versions, so I decided to try and embed the driver install files inside my application for easy field installation. That is when my problems started... First I tried to include the raw driver .exe files in the application, which worked fine when I tested locally, but when I published to the web server (Win 2003 SE SP-2) the application deploy failed on the .exe files. I tried to find the problem, but just chalked it up to some unknown security issues and decided to go the old file…

So this has been going on since 2007? Whew. Vista Premium is the first Windows OS I've noticed this happening with of course I've gotten hangs and freezes with everything dating back to the Apple ][, but Vista seems particularly hang-happy. In general it's Mozilla Firefox, but I think that's because it's the program I launch the most. It can even be a Control Panel that becomes nonresponsive. (The most ironic poart is that the Task Manager often freezes, but doesn't tell you it's hung! Or perhaps the most ironic part is that when the "Windows is searching for a solution to this problem" window comes up, it stays up forever, or until you reboot.) I've tried a…

Hello all, I'm new to this forum, and found you guys while looking for some assistance. Over the 4th of July holiday weekend, I migrated our SBS 2003 server to SBS 2008 Standard. All-in-all it went quite smoothly. The email took a long time to copy (expected), as did the data using robocopy (didn't expect to run into so many access denied problems, but oh well), and everything is now up and running on the new box with one exception...SharePoint We use SharePoint quite a bit, but following the migration instructions, I am able to get the information and databases copied from the source (2003) server to the destination (2008) server and it works perfectly as http…
