I experience poor sound quality with Windows Media Player 11 and Media Player Classic but NOT with VLC Player. By poor sound quality, I mean that the sound becomes more 'gravely' or garbled as the loudness of a piece of music increases. This can be heard whether playing CDs from the DVD drive or playing stored media files from the hard drive. I have experimented with adjusting the volume levels of the players, the sound card and the speaker system but the problem seems to be in the sound being output by the player not in how the level of its volume is adjusted. I have turned off SRS WOW Effects, Graphic Equalizer and I have experimented with Quiet Mod…

Windows 2008 Standard SP1 64 bit I installed windows, add IIS and configure it, install MS SQL 2008. Install all updates. System works fine some days, but after restart all services are stopped. I can login into windows but nothing works at all. We have two different servers and I tried at both. System works fine during some days, I can restart it without problem. But suddenly after restart, without any reasons all services are stopped and system does not work.

Hi, I am having a problem accessing a local printer on Windows 2003 64 bit, under IIS6.0 running a 32-bit ASP.Net application. Printers can be successfully enumerated, but not printed to. This previously worked, so is probably due to some configuration change or OS patch. I have narrowed it down, I think, to a problem calling CreateDC and friends (via p/invoke). We have detailed tracking turned on, so I can see that when this call is made the splwow64.exe is being started in the context of NETWORK SERVICE and immediately exits (with no delay). Simultaneously the CreateDC call hangs for 60 seconds exactly before returning NULL. GetLastError also returns zero …

I recently noticed that my Security Center icon is missing from my Control Panel list even though it is set to start automatically as a service. It also displays fine when I run wscui.cpl. wscui.cpl does not show up under the "don't load" folder in the registry, which is good. Is there a way I can get the Control Panel icon back? Thanks.

Hi, In order to achieve a sql server 2008 tutorial (and more later), I have to create a new user group. I'm on vista basic, so I don't have access to the usual user and group manager window. I heard there is a way of doing so by the registry... How can I found this information. Or if there is another way, what is it ? I know this is an issue for a lot of people. Thank you for your time. -- stephP

  25. Hello, I am using a windows Server 2008 standard SP1. Now I connect to the server with remote Desktop. So far no problems. When I use any kind of barcodescanner I have the following problem: Normally the scanner send a CTRL-B as a start character. On this environment in the keypress function I get the Character B at first and then the Control Character. So it is vice versa to any other kind of Windows Server. The problem does not occur when the remote desktop window it not maximized! Thanks you for your suggestions. Gregor
