Waking From A Vista Session
by Guest Jon- 0 replies

After staring at Vista's rotating 'green circle of light' for a period of about 3-4 minutes, watching it go round and round and round and round ......, I found myself falling into a deep hypnotic trance. Time sped by and when I next glanced at the clock, a full 2 hours had gone by. To this day I have no idea what happened during this lost period (abducted by aliens or whatever). [someone apparently heard snoring] Anyhow, after this experience I also noticed that I'd lost all ability to think critically. I simply believed whatever was suggested, without ever asking any questions! For example, one line condescending platitudes of some newsgroup regula…

Vista firewall blocks unblocked port
by Guest ejm- 0 replies

I installed OpenVPN on my notebook, but the Vista firewall keeps blocking it, even after I made an exception for this port in the firewall. When I completely turn off the firewall, OpenVPN works fine, but I don't want to turn off my firewall for obvious reasons. In the Settings for Windows Firewall dialog box: 1) In the advanced tab, I disabled the firewall for the OpenVPN connection. 2) In the Exceptions tab, I added an exception for UDP-port 1194.
