Hey guys! I got some questions for you.. My dad wants to have a home server in our house... At first, he wanted some god-like server, which can do everything... But I talked him out of that pretty fast, because it needs A LOT of power, if you want to play games over a terminal session.. Anyways... The server should be able to hold all our data and to make it accessable... It'll also run a streaming software, so I can watch stored movies with my PS3... There we got the first problem... The PS3 can't play the *.mkv format, which means, that the server has to decode the movie and then send it to the PS3... I store all my bluray movies as *.mkv on my hdd, so more…

I went to admin tools and not even on the menu. went to event log and it says following since 6/23 The description for Event ID 300 from source WMServer cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. Can't locate Scripts Virtual Directory that MBSA suggests I remove
by Guest LeftCoast_Dave- 0 replies
Hi, I'm running WinXP-SP3, with latest updates I am aware of. MS Baseline Security Analyzer gives a warning that "Scripts virtual directory was found under one or more web sites". Step 2 of the "How to Correct this" info is "In the Internet Information Services Manager, right-click the virtual directories to remove...". Trouble I'm having is that there doesn't seem to be one (or more), at least by the name "virtual directory". Where are they?!? And given that I have all FTP sites, SMTP virtual Servers, and Web Sites (all of which are only default) stopped, is this even an issue? Ah - noticed a directory named Scripts the is apparently empty, has a …

F Microsoft programmer who decided WinExplorer can choose templates/appearance/sorting by what he prefers, and now what customer saved or how it looked on last exit. I am exhausted to reset appearance, and sorting every few hours, sometimes you set WinExplorer look one way, and 10 mintes later magically "tags, size, dat emodified, etcc" appear and 'type" disappears, and all the crap gets sorted by NAME, not by TYPE. Does anyoen remember WindowsXP Explorer? You set it ONCE, and done. Yes sometimes it may reset window size/location, but that's the worst of it, and in my case even that wasn't hap…
