Microsoft is paying 1 thousand dollars for 10 hours of work promoting Windows 7. That’s a lot of money but unfortunately this only happens in Hong Kong. Microsoft Hong Kong has actually offered HK $ 7,777 (US $ 1,004) for each person picked to promote Windows 7 during the last week of October when Microsoft launches its latest operating system. Ms Hong Kong has created a Facebook group where individuals aged 15 and above who can speak fluent English and Cantonese are encouraged to post their one-minute self-introductory video. Aside from this, the applicant should have basic computer knowledge. The [...]Post from: Windows Vista Weblog More...

Hi, if I enable RDP on Vista and connect via RDP to the machine a selfsigned certificate is created and used for the RDP(S) connection. Is there a way to select another the RDP certificate as in Windows Server 2003 SP1? I deleted the selfsigned certificare and requested a Computer certificate from a enterprise CA, but on establishing a new RDP connection a new selfsigned certificate is created and used for RDP. I think selfsigned certs offer a much lower security level than certs from a companywide trusted enterprise CA. Thanks! -- pkokkinis

Hi guys, I'm wondering if there's an equivalent to the /checkupgradeonly switch for the 2008 RC2 install. I have several applications running on the server and I plan to do a clean install rather than an upgrade in any case, but I would like to verify that they will still work once 2008 RC2 is installed. Is there any such feature? Thanks.

Hello, I'm having a hard time determining the appropriate OID to input in a remote monitoring application to monitor a server's individual drive's Disk Queue Lengths. I've tried SNMP Informant and the like but have not been able to find anything that works on Windows Server 2003 and that finds the individual (eg. 4 drives) disk's Disk Queue Length OID. Can anyone point me in the right direction to determining the OID for each individual hard drive's Disk Queue Lengths? Thank you, -- Brock Hensley http://BHensley.com ==

If I right click on a file there is usually the option to"Open with..". Selecting this option list possible programs with which to open the application and, below this, there is a check box labelled "always use the selected program to open this kind of file". The check box is always checked, so clicking on OK permanently associates the selected program with the file type in question. However, I usually use this option to open a file in an application that I would not normally use for that type of file (e.g. Notepad to examine a non-text file). I do not want to associate the application with that type of file. Unfortunately it is very easy to accident…
