Microsoft is expected to release a security update next week which patches and fixes five critical holes in Windows and a number of software. DirectPlay IPX too slow for VPN 300 ping networks...
by Guest And Wan- 0 replies
A very old game Theme Hospital luckily has DirectPlay IPX for multiplayer support. The problem is, it's very very slow in a high-ping network (ie. VPN via Hamachi for across the internet). I mean, it causes all clients games to be very very slow, it's unplayable. We can't scroll the screen without having to wait 10 times longer than normal for the screen to scroll. Is there anyway to make a wrapper for DirectPlay IPX so that it works across DirectPlay TCP/IP? If not, could write a fake service which would speed up the game clients so they don't have to wait? I believe all clients is waiting for constant updates from each other, possibly an acknowledgem…

I have done a lot of investigation into this but have not been able to find an article or newsgroup message that has any relativity. My computer is a Toshiba NB 100 (Netbook) running Win XP. If I leave the computer connected to the charger when I turn it off, it restarts immediately. If I leave it on for any length of time it will restart without anyone doing anything. The restart on error function is not active. If anyone has had this problem and can suggest what I need to do, I would be most grateful. Dennis

Windows Photo Gallery resolution problem
by Guest tsabo- 0 replies
Recently, the majority of image files I've been saving have been displaying incorrectly on Windows Photo Gallery. The horizontal resolution for all the images becomes 1 dpi and the vertical resolution becomes a number like 400 or 600 dpi. The result is images appear as a flat line when opened in Windows Photo Gallery but are perfectly fine when opened with other viewers. The icon thumbnails of the images also appear as this flat line. I don't see anything in the options which can fix the problem. Has anybody encountered this problem before or know a solution? Thanks
