Intel Votes on Windows 7
by Guest NewsBot- 0 replies

Intel is confident that Windows 7 would perform a lot better than it’s predecessor — Windows Vista. According to Sean Maloney while speaking at the Intel Technology Summit, sales chief of the chip leader, Windows 7 is going to deploy at a faster pace than Vista did. He goes on by saying that there is no reason not to deploy Vista because of waiting for another service pack.Sean also cite advantages of businesses deploying Windows 7 which includes security, power management and compatibility mode.I think all of these are wishful thinking until the version of Windows 7 goes out and [...]Post from: Windows Vista Weblog More...

by Guest badger.al- 0 replies

Running iTunes 8.2.1.6 on XP, I used to be able to burn CDs from iTunes. However, somehow I lost access to my CDROM after updating the BIOS on my Dell computer, so installed KB314060 and can now see my CDROM drive again. Now everytime I start up iTunes it presents me with "ITunes setup assistant Warning! : The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs are missing. ... Reinstall iTunes". I can import CDs into iTunes, but cannot burn them. Running the iTunes Diagnostics for CDROM drive shows: -------------------------------------------------------------- Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (Build 2600) Dell Inc. Di…

Hello, I am unable to connect to one of our fileservers via RDP or console login. Trying to login via RDP just seems to refuse connection. I can ping server and TELNET to server. It is setup for Remote desktop too. Server is part of a server farm on ESX boxes. Loggin onto ESX I can open console to server with no problems, but cannot access from any PC. Also, this happened two weeks ago, possibley after a windows update as the server has rebooted over the weekend. Problem does not seem to affect any other server. Other wierd thing is that none of our users can access thier PST files either. All other files accessible via mapped drives. Any suggestio…

Re: How to disable permanently the driver signature enforcement feature in Vista Ultimate x64
by Guest MarkLemay- 0 replies
For everyone that is having a problem disabling "driver signature enforcement" I think I have a simple answer that has proven to work for me thus far. Re-download "driver signature enforcement" and instead of clicking "enable test mode" like you did the first time, click "disable test mode" and re-boot. This has worked for me (and I have Windows Vista 64-bit) and it's a simple solution. For all those who try this and succeed, I would appreciate a reply hearing your success. New Features in Windows XP Mode RC Based on feedback from the Windows XP Mode beta, we’ve made several improvements to the usability of Windows XP Mode for small and medium-sized business users: You can now attach USB devices to Windows XP Mode applications directly from the Windows 7 task-bar. This means your USB devices, such as printers and flash drives, are available to applications running in Windows XP Mode, without the need to go into full screen mode. You can now access Windows XP Mode applications with a “jump-list”. Right click on the Windows XP Mode applications from the Windows 7 task bar to select and open most recently used files. You now have the fl…

I'm trying to connect to an ad hoc wireless network but am not convinced that I've successfully connected even though the Wireless Network Connection Status thing implies that I am (ie. both computers are connected to the same SSID). My question is... is there a way that I, on the host computer, can view a list of people connected to the ad-hoc wireless network?

Windows Easy Transfer problems
by Guest Paul- 0 replies

I tried once to use the WET in Vista, but it told me I didn't have enough disk space and it stopped. Ever since then, every hour or two I see an icon in my system tray that tells me that the service has stopped. I have gone into the Control Panel, Administrative/Services section to disable the service, but it keeps on appearing (even though the Services window always tells me that it has been disabled). What can I do to shut this thing off for good? I am not interested in cleaning up disk space, but in preventing this error message in my system tray--really, in turning off this WET service for good. -- Paul Dell Inspiron 1501 Vista Home Basic Offic…
