"The wizard could not start" WSR warning message.
by Guest dad- 0 replies

When I click on Windows Speech Recognition the above message appears. I have not used WSR before and am trying to learn how to use it. I don't have a microphone connected to the computer as yet, does this stop the program from working completely? I have been following the advice and instructions given in Help, and in the control panel. I don't see anything that says I must have a microphone connected before doing anything with WSR? Is it possible that WSR software in my computer is incomplete or messed up? Another error message: "Can't start Speech Macros, windows speech recognition macros was unable to initialize its command system to begin operation."…

I have been wrestling with a problem when trying to create a W2K8 R2 sysprepped image. The default profile modifications are not included afeter sysprepping with the copyprofile option. If there is anyone that can assist I would be forever greatful. These are the steps I have followed: - Installed W2K8 R2 onto virtual server (VMWARE) and configured OS - Logged on with local admin account and configured default profile. Made changes such as new desktop folders, desktop shortcuts, pnned taskbar items, added a quick launch toolbar, and modified the desktop background color. - Deleted the current C:\Users\Default folder and created a new empty C:\Users\Default folder -c…

Leopard Trying to Out Hype Windows 7
by Guest NewsBot- 0 replies

Early release date of Snow Leopard has a lot of fans feeling that Apple could take the hype out of Windows 7. The release of the next version of Mac OS X popularly known as Leopard is just a minor update and changes are mostly found under the hood which users would not dramatically notice. Some reports says this is a major release because it could take the buzz around Windows 7 but I beg to disagree. These views are mainly from MAC fans and purists and no Windows user would really care about Snow Leopard. Apple is releasing Snow [...]Post from: Windows Vista Weblog More...

Cut and Paste (Move) Not Behaving as Expected
by Guest hoc928- 0 replies
I am running Windows Server 2008 Standard x64 SP2. I've been organizing and consolidating our archived data through the move command (cut and paste). I really like the new features in Server 2008 that detects same file names and prompts you whether to keep one file or the other or keep both and rename the one being moved. However, I have to run the cut and paste command many times (10+) before it moves all the data. For example, say I am moving five folders containing many subfolders and files to a directory that has the same subfolder names. I am prompted first whether to Merge the folders. I click Yes and sometimes the command continues to prompt for the next…

Hi, I have just setup an new server running Microsoft Hyper V Server (not windows server 2008 with Hyper V component). I am wanting to run a test to see if DPM 2007 SP1 can backup any VM's i create on the machine. I have currently got 1 windows server 2003 VM running on the Microsoft Hyper V Server. To do this test i need to have an agent on the physical machine running Microsoft Hyper V Server. However, every time i try to install the agent from the DPM GUI i get the following error: Do the following to troubleshoot this issue: 1) Check the spelling of the computer name. 2) Verify that Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 or later is installed…

FSRM on 2003 R2
by Guest Dean- 0 replies
Hello, I have a Windows 2003 R2 Ent Server acting as a stand alone file server for my company. I am working on folder redirection of my documents from end user PCs to the user share on the server. I have this working just fine after some permission changes. My question is more FSRM related. When I move the My Docs to the server, I don't want to copy audio and video files to the server since they are nothing more than a space waster so I created a file screen as a test using the default Block Audio and Video template. I than put my user object in the GPO and when I log in twice (nice trick BTW with fast user logon) and I expect My Docs to move, …

SSD drives explained
by Guest JewBoy- 0 replies

One word: Wait for Windows7, it takes full advantage of SSD's. But who told you SSD is faster? Nothing beats a magnetic harddisk, even today, for a regular home user. In a lab, science or industrial applications there're faster methods of storing information, but for an average person harddisk is the best large-volume/daily access medium except for its mechanical fragility/wearing out & sensitivity to Magnetic fields. Also extremely large harddisks already today enter the domain of Quantum Mechanics where reliability of storing a Logic 0 or 1 is described by Theory of Probablity. In plain English, very large harddisks might be unreliable unless you pa…
