Stragely enough, I did not see anything related to what is actually going on.. When you run the installer, if you monitor the system event log (and refresh every so often) you will see that during the "cleanup" it is actually installing hot fixes post SP3. Now what I was looking for was something on this topic so I can determine if the process is actually installing the post SP3 hot fixes that were previously installed or if they were part of the SP3 installer. I suspect it was the former, as I could not find anything in the install package that indicated there were follow-on patches. Maybe someone else out there can expand on this. "Bernd" …

Jim, This happens to me all the time. It drives me nuts! Totally disrupts the workflow. For me, it happens most frequently in Powerpoint. Usually when I"m at teh end of a bullet point. It's not a hardware thing, as I now have a new laptop. Old laptop was Vista, new is Win7. So it's not that. And it's not the touchpad, as it happens when I'm using the touchpad or using a USB mouse and keyboard. I've heard other people at the office complain about the same thing. I'm convinced it's a microsoft office bug. Wish I knew how to fix it. Let me know if you cure yours! "JVRudnick" wrote: > I am a writer, usi…

  13. As a web browser, Internet Explorer is a platform for many kinds of add-ons (here are some great examples). IE users generally don’t distinguish between add-ons and Internet Explorer when it comes to performance, reliability, or privacy. They just use IE and expect it to work. That’s why the best add-ons do a good job of integrating with the IE user model, letting customers “just browseâ€Â. Recently, Adobe announced that their latest version of Flash supports InPrivate Browsing. Version 10.1 of Flash will now respond to interfaces we built into IE8 when we first released it. When you browse to a site with Flash, it can store “Flash Cookie…

I have figured it out. Microsoft programmers purposely screw things up so they can have a job fixing the bugs. That is it in a nutshell. XP was too functional, so they invented Vista to keep their jobs.

For some reason I cannot find my previous post so posting this question again. Hello, I am having a couple of issues with Excel 2007 and being able to retrieve data in Excel 2007. The first issue is that I cannot see a System DSN that was added through the 64 bit ODBC Administrator screen on Windows 7 in Excel 2007. What I do is add the System DSN and when I open Excel 2007 and then click on the Data tab and then click on From Other Sources then click on From Microsoft Query the Data Source I added is not in the list. So since the System DSN did not show up I removed it and added a User DSN and did the same steps as above and when…

We observe the same problem. IE8 browsers loading pages from our server sometimes make requests to in-page resource files (.js, .css etc) with damaged filenames. We have been able to verify that often 4096 bytes are dropped in the source code, ie. if in the html source it said the request on our server my look like /h/menSOMETHING where SOMETHING is a html fragment from the same page, further down by 4096 bytes. We have also seen case where the distance is different from 4096 bytes. It seems that some code triggers a bug in IE 8.8 which destroys the internal representation of the list of required resources for that page. The cause …

Infrastructure: terminal server, W2K3 SP2, Outlook 2003 SP2, IE8 rdp device: thin client, Windows XP embedded, RDP 6.0 problem: Opening a html e-mail and trying to forward or answer it ends in an “input-delay†no matter the input is done by mouse or keyboard. But if I take control of the “delayed†user session from a full XP client the session works proper! So there is no real delay on the terminal server moreover in data transfer between terminal server and XPe client. further details: The problem does NOT occur when forwarding or answering this t…

I had word set up to remind me to not double space and other APA format issues but now they have changed it and I am not getting any "reminders" anymore. Is there an update coming with the new guidelines on formatting the document? I spent 17 months relearning to not double space after a period now I have to re relearn to double space again. The templates I have seen only address setting up the basics of the paper not the "nitty gritty" of the little details. Help please.

I've had ATT local and long distance service for a long time, and used their account manager at https://accountmanager.att.com to log in and check phone bills. Last week, I upgraded my Internet service from Hughes satellite to ATT wireless for my Windows XP Desktop. The USBConnect Lightning device provides consistently good speeds, since we have a 3G tower about 1/2 mile from our home. However, since ATT got my wireless account set up, I can no longer get to any ATT pages except http://www.wireless.att.com. If I try to go to http://www.att.com, or links from that page, the pages don't fully load. I thought this was an ATT issue, but was abl…
