Hi, I'm having difficulties installing files for East Asian languages. Every time I select the checkbox for 'Install files for East Asian languages' under the Languages tab of Regional and Language Options, it prompts me that it will require 230mb of space etc, and tells me I need to restart my computer for the changes to take effect. I click okay, and my computer restarts...there is no prompting for an install disk or for me to point the OS to the correct language pack files to install. Essentially, my computer reboots and nothing changes. When I open Regional and Language Options, the box for East Asian languages is still unchecked. …

I agree with you and understand your problem completely. This is a new issue with Vista/ Windows 7 IE7 or 8. Do you have a solution yet where you can disable my computer showing up in Internet Explorer? D V wrote: Remove "My Computer" from IE7 history 25-Dec-08 I agree with the original poster ("needlove") that there needs to be a way to disable the tracking (or at least the displaying) of "My Computer" history in IE7. But my reason isn't for security as much as ease of use, so I don't really care if it is tracked as much as whether it is displayed along with the website history. Frequently I want to open the history a…

NNTP microsoft.public.test - Postb1020324-95cf-4187-b233-c34c4d1fcf92 This is an example - there is an entry like this every few minutes! I searched for such entries on Microsoft's 'Communities' Groups and found only this response:- "Your query for "user@domain" did not return results." Someone must know why such posts are made and the reason behind them - please share! Thanks -- Dave

Back in 2008, I had posted about problems (instability) with Vista Home basic and using an HP Scanjet 4370. Problem was that solution center kept trying to re-install. Couldn't do an uninstall. Solution is archived at http://www.vistaheads.com/forums/microsoft-public-windows-vista-general/174543-hp-scanner-scanjet-4370-uninstall.html Recent update: Program yet again messed up and I tried to go to the HP 4370 site to get a new program update. To my dismay, almost all support for this scanner had been removed. (only a simple patch remained) Remembering that the G3010 and SJ 4370 were of the same family, I went to the G3010 support page …

Hi, when I try to open any of the MS Office programs it says eg. "Microsoft Office Word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application". All the office applications clearly are installed as I've been using them for 5 months. I'm also the only user on my computer. I have run the setup, tried to "repair" the program, and also uninstalled and installed it all to no avail. The worst part is that to get help from Microsoft I have to get the Product Identification Code, which I can't access without opening one of the applications. Either that or pay £46, which is outrageous. If anyone can help I wou…

Jorge, the file you deleted was the one your computer was using to boot into. I've been researching a very similar issue all morning. i have two windows folders, one simply labeled "windows", the other labeled "windows.0". this happened when the windows OS was being installed. most likely the installation was frozen and restarted. this means the first "windows" file is incomplete. the second "windows" file (windows.0) is the complete installation of the operating system. I'm having error messages regarding ..dll files being corrupt and/or missing and i cannot use the built in utilities to correct them so i am going to return the computer. a…

I have fought this pop up for over a week now...I had written windows LIve and they passed me onto someone else so I kept reading. I finally got rid of it!!! :) I went to add/remove programs removed MSN toolbar. Then restarted - yep it was still there only it was an empty file. So I went to programs, found Microsoft and clicked on it...it too was an empty folder so deleted it. (Make sure it is the RIGHT Microsoft folder!) It is still in my recycle bin (just in case) but so far I have restarted 3 different times and it has not popped up. Hope this helps others. It was a pain in the dairiair! Have a great day. myday502

"Mark Conrad" well and truly exposed and a slam dunk as they say -) > Hmm, Andy is right, we both had trouble with the > email address of that Typing Test website. > > I managed to struggle along at a puny 836 wpm > according to that website, with accuracy of 100% > of course - - - results posted there under my name > of Mark Conrad. And if you go back to the website, I show you how he cheated because under my name 'andy t' it shows I have dictated 967 words per minute with 100% accuracy which we all know is impossible because I did exactly the same as Mark Conrad did and CHEAT. h…

I have also encountered a problem with Microsoft's instructions not working with an HP tablet PC. I believe I have found the source of the problem, and it looks like a "Catch-22". Finding people who had a different problem leading to the same symptoms helped me find what I believe to be the cause. Searching through the net, I found other people who had a similar problem that was introduced only when they installed SP3. In their case, installing SP3 replaced files in the directory "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Ink". They were able to get the icon back by restoring the pre-service pack version of "penusa.dll" in…

I have a table inside a div, the table could be any width but the div is set to 400px with auto overflow my problem is that I want the table right aligned, if I use text-align in IE8 it does not work, if I float the table right I get a hidden overflow this is for a internal app and only really needs to work in IE8 but a cross browser fix would be good to know. any ideas?

Apply to Government & R&D organizations. A pilot for example, may like to talk into computer, not moving hands for some controls, but then again a less than perfect Speech recognition can launch some missiles & blow up unwanted targets.... But a more useful usage for example could be language learning. Almost 20 years ago when I was still speaking a language different from English, wondered if I could talk more than type into computers which at the time were not as polished as today in terms of speech. But I got by simply using mIRC (IRC chat client) and talking to many people usually however sticking with the same Channel (#Mus…

Actually I prefer iTunes runnign in background in Radio-mode. I never pay for music since Recession started, and iTunes radio is free - I wonder if anyone realizes. it's FREE, NO commercials, and 1000+ channles of intelligent music. I listen to categories like Eclectic & Classical. here's my favorite: WKSU3 "Classic" Classical, not modernist junk I also listen to Reggae or Electronica when not working with brains, but driving or doing some dumb physical work. I come from Metal/Death/Doom/Gloom/Speedmetal, Heavy Punk & Industrial. But that was years ago, now I just realized it defeats brains when you need to use them - e.g.…

On 2/15/2010 7:06 PM, Kevin John Panzke (one person not having the same problem)... Thanks loads, scan weekly, funny to have malware which picks only on WLM, and then only after applying SP3 and updating to IE8, like pandas which eat only bamboo :) Well, maybe pandas have slightly wider tastes: http://www.wwfchina.org/english/sub_loca.php?loca=61&sub=16#3 http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/GiantPandas/PandaFacts/default.cfm --

I have a client with a workforce that are geographically distributed, and as such, doesn't have a single office where all users are located. They have a few servers, including an AD domain, and we have been using the Frontpage Server Extensions of IIS5 (Server 2k3) on their data server to share files over the WAN, but Windows 7 and the newest version of Mac OS X don't appear to be working properly with the (admittedly cheesy) FPSE solution. The way they were doing it, they just added a "My Network Place" to their XP installations that pointed to http://server.organization.com/, and the web server on that machine had the FPSE 2002 installed in …

I am unable to go into standby with spooler set to automatic in services. How do I correct this? The error I get is "The service "Spooler" is preventing the machine from entering standby... Thanks, Sue

Is there a way to use local spooling when printing to a remote printer (\\server\printer). Currently the job goes over the network and spools on the \\server. Note that the application does not use printer driver, but uses OpenPrinter/WritePrinter directly. The objective is to release the application faster, as WritePrinter calls over the network take a long time. Thanks.
