I am trying to install this program on my 3rd computer. I am getting the error code 1304: Error writing to file: Microsoft.Office.Interop.OneNote.dll Verify you have access to that directory. and another error code: 1712 This one had something to do with not being able to go back to previous installed versions. I now need the product key for 2003 to work. My question is: How do I verify I have access (I am the administrator) and where would I find the product key ( I don't have that disc anymore) Thank-you

[crosspost to Windows Update newsgroup] > ...I really don't want to use the automatic > function...so I do an 'Express Install'... 1. Are you aware of the fact that there are Automatic Updates settings other than "Automatically download recommended updates for my computer and install them"? See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306525 2. You could have avoided downloading the installer for IE8 (and probably a few other updates you didn't want or need) if you'd chosen the CUSTOM scan option. > in my list are SP2 updates for MS Office. I am using windows 7 x64 with dwl-g510, what I did for the drivers was I just connected my pc to the internet with an other device and used the auto update of windows by going to device manager and right clicking on the unknown network device. It detected the drivers online immediately downloaded them and that was that. Let me just add that the pci card works 100% and I am very happy with it. -- zerofox

I read your explanation on this post and was really impressed. I hope you can help me with a glitch I can't seem to figure out. Windows XP Home Edition SP3 IE 7 I have an Admin. acct and standard user account for the internet. When installing something from a CD-Rom(e.g. PC game), I can only do it via the Admin account. The definition given for a standard user was that they could install as long as it did not interfere with the system/system files, which is why I did not choose the Limited acct. When I tried installing via standard user, it blocked and said I needed Admin. priviledges. Is it possibly the game itself? Some don't requi…

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)? Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)? Are KB972270 and KB978207 both listed in Add/Remove Programs (after making sure the Show Updates box at the top is checked)? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 Tree wrote: > I have XP Home SP3. We have successfully installed Office 2007 and would like to perform pilot testing with users. Does anyone have a testing scenario document which includes: 1. A scenario to ensure that Outlook is working ok. 2. A scenario to ensure that Word is working ok. 3. A scenario to ensure that Access is working ok. 4. A scenario to ensure that Excel is working ok. 5. A scenario to ensure that Publisher is working ok. and any other scenarios used to validate that Office 2007 is installed and working properly.

It seems ridiculous that we would need to have 10 copies of shell32.dll (8MB each) and 10 copies of IEFrame.dll (6MB each), etc on our system. After every few KB installs, a new version of these dlls is added while none of the previous versions in the KB subfolders is removed. Ok...keep 1 or 2 versions - but 10 is ridiculous. This folder has grown to over 1GB now and the space on the 12GB C: Partition (originally recommended by MS) has less than 400 MB left. Microsoft, where are you? Can someone offer a simple answer to getting rid of so many of these duplicate drive space hogging files?

I have the exact same problem here with a Windows Vista computer and Office 2007 SP2 (swedish). I can copy/paste different pictures between IE 8 and Wordpad. No problem But in Outlook I can only use the first copy/paste picture. If I try another picture I still get only the first one if I paste it in Outlook. It's a new HP Laptop and the video drivers should be new. /Lasse Sweden "Susan Ramlet" wrote: > Very strange. It's been several years and an SP or two since I actually saw this problem! Turned out to be some sort of corruption in the user profiles. A "new user" account was the accepted cure. After things worked properly, the old user accounts were removed. Finally the new user account was changed to the desired users name, etc. (I had to skip the gory step by details, since I don't remember them.) This is not a good thing. Not being able to complete the installation of SP3 can mean you have malware. Of course, you might just be performing the install incorrectly. For instance, it is important that there are *no* security programs (like any resident antivirus program or something like Zone Alarm) running. Personally, I prefer to configure a Clean Boot and use the standalone SP3 installati…

Hi guys, first post here, Just like the OP, I too have a very similar problem. First off, I have a HP dv2617 with Vista 32-bit and Intel centrino. The recovery is partitioned off on the hard-drive. About a week ago I was using the wireless network at home and was suddenly dropped from it. No big deal, right? That happens once every two weeks, so, as usual, I restarted the computer. Upon restarting I get: ______ Windows Error Recovery Windows failed to start. A hardware or software change might be the cause. If Windows files have been damaged, Startup Repair can help diagnose and fix the problem. (Use the arrow keys tio highlight…
