Hello, In a migration from Offce XP to Offcie 2003 I try to list several elements: - The new features of Office (2K3 compared to the XP version) - Changes in work habits for common user (non IT users). I place myself at a functional level more than technical, because the results of this research will be integrated in the communication to be made to users final (non-computer). I am interested of any information or URL where I might find information. I target products Word, Excel and Power Point. For now here are the items that I own: Outlook: Emergence of the "cache mode" ==> what effect on work habits? …

I have two hard drives - 'C' is internal and 'I' is an external USB drive. I do not want to ever search the external 'I' drive. In Search Companion I select just the 'C' drive (instead of 'CI') and the search functions properly. I then close and reopen the Search Companion and the default search has switched back to 'C' and 'I'. Is there anyway to retain my defaults that I want to search? Thank you in advance.

I have AcerPower FH computers with XP Pro (SP3) with all sorts of Acer proprietary security software on it. Since the software was blocking out the DVD player and slowing down the machine, I uninstalled them. NOW all the icons are gone off of the desktop and start menu for just one profile (the one that uses the machine the most). All other users I log on as have icons all over the place. What can I do to get the icons back? I have used the "Show Desktop Icons" method, I have put another copy of explorer.exe (called explorer1.exe) and told the registry to use that one, nothin. I have scanned for viruses and malware, nothin. I have d…

Hi, I'm having an issue with Microsoft Outlook 2007 for a few of the users on my network. When new contacts are added to their contact list, their autocomplete list emptys until they repopulate it. For a solution I've had them download and use NK2Viewer, but I was wondering if their was anything anybody could think of to help me resolve this issue. It's an intermittent issue, and it's one I myself don't have. Sometimes when new contacts are dragged to their contact folder they no longer have their autocomplete and sometimes they do. My first thought is that it's a corrupt .nk2 file, but one of the users complaining of this pr…

I have a continuing problem when installing WindowsUpdates on my Vista 64b Ultimate machine. At some point during the installation process, memory is corrupted. This is evident by the fact that my screen graphics get totally 'scrambled' and the machine hangs. I have to powerdown, restart in Safe Mode and then restart in normal mode. This happens on about 1 in 3 update processes. I have all of the latest updates (except for those I tried to install just now...) Can anyone offer any advice as to what to do?

Thanks for all the prior tips, they did me no good, BUT, after turning firewall OFF (to no avail) I began eliminating hardware, starting with the Belkin 54g Wireless router(only), simply cable connected directly to modem and, "Hey Presto" (update) download action! Stopped the "update" (pulled the LAN cable) to allow Windows 7 Firewall to be re-activated (important!), and then reconnected the LAN cable and re-initiated the "Update", sweet, no change due to the Firewall in my case (using "Recommended Settings"). Interesting to note that Windows Firewall does not mention "Windows Update" in it's "list" so I'm perplexed at previous mentions of firew…

I would like to let the users decide which language pack should be installed on "their" system. With Vista this was no problem. But Microsoft doesn't deliver MUI packs for Windows 7 through WSUS. What other options do I have? It should be possible for a standard user (_NOT_ admin mit UAC).
