Meanwhile, if they just built browsers that ran ON the OS, and not IN the OS, it wouldn't be an issue at all. But, they still don't get it. There's a reason the MS's share o…

I am having a problem getting this update installed. Have a 2003 Server Enterprise edition sp2. This guy became available a couple of weeks ago I believe. When it installs it prompts me for a location by saying this: Microsoft Report Viewer Redistributable 2005 The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK or enter an alternative path to the folder containing the installation package ReportViewer.msi. So I do a search for this file and it is located in C:\Windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft Report Viewer Redistributable\ So I enter that path and get an error …

Is there any resolution to this? I am having the same problem. When I click the download button on the MS website, there is a popup saying "checking for updates". I then get a message saying "the update does not apply to your system" and closes itself. That's it. No other info. It does not even say *what* update does not apply to my system, or why I would need an update (I have already installed all recent updates). "brau98" wrote: > > > "Richard G. Has anyone heard anything about Windows 8? I heard some rumblings a couple weeks ago and since my source hasn't said anything new. Maybe it's the calm before the storm.

Earlier today, Core Security Technologies issued a security advisory for our Virtual PC (VPC) software. The advisory calls out a proof of concept where the virtual machine monitor allows memory pages above the 2GB level to be read from or written to by user-space programs running within a guest operating system. The advisory explicitly calls into question the effectiveness of many of the security hardening features of Windows, including DEP, SafeSEH, and ASLR. Folks are already starting to ask questions about this advisory, so I thought it would be best to answer them here. First and foremost, customers should rest assured that this advisory does not affect the se…

We have a 2003 R2 member server on our domain network running a single server topology install of FCS. Reqs such as SQL 2005 etc also installed on the same server. At times, your desktop shows icons sorted alphabetically in two groups. All users Desktop, and user Desktop. Create a temporary desktop folder. Copy the icons from the Windows Explorer Desktop into this folder. Now delete the desktop icons. Copy the icons from the temporary desktop folder to the Windows Explorer Desktop. Now your desktop will be sorted alphabetically in one group. -- Lassar

Hi, i'm newbie here, not sure if this is the right place to post my question. Smile I need to implement 2 factor authentication for my Windows logon and would like to know if a GINA STUB can fulfill my requirement or do I need to write the entire GINA DLL? I read there are risks in implementing the whole GINA so I will like to avoid that. The flow: 1. Initial Authentication: The user enters the username and password on the logon screen, the logon credentials are then used to authenticate against a remote authentication server. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Please enter your …

I am having serveral issues. All started when I noticed my Start menu button was lagging for at least 30 sec before expanding, and/or whenever I click on an office program the Windows Installer would run, and then try to re install/config Office, but as a Hyrid program. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing has been fixed, just made worse. I have associated my Excel file with the office program. I click on the file IE excel file, and as it opens the Config screen pops up. I cancel it. I get an error message that I should repair/restore the program. The file continues to open. I then get another error message when I am opening …
