I have a Dimension D9200 with XP SP3. If the computer is idle, every second or so there is a DPC interrupt (as seen on the task monitor). This causes a flicker of hard disk activity, which is slightly annoying. Is this normal?

Pretty annoying problem. I can connect through USB Just fine, but there is no way to connect through Bluetooth. The Treo is running WM 5.0, and WM 6.0/.1 can connect to WMDC through bluetooth with no problem, but my Treo doesn't show Activesync as one of the services on my PC. Did Mircrosoft pull another "Brilliant" Idea out and drop 5.0 or what? Any Idea on what I can do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -- SeanNQ

Hello everyone, how does an office (excel) file behave if it is opened, edited ans saved on two different locations and then replicated to the central location through DFS? Is there any algorithm to ersolve conflicts? I could not find any whitepaper on this until now. Thank you. -- The sun is shining.

We are still running Office XP, (I know...I know). I've installed the office 2007 compatibility pack on all the computers in the office. Initially it worked fine but it has stopped working on several machines. On those machines I no longer get the full list of items to convert when double-clicking on a .DOCX file. Most importantly the Word 2007 convert option is no longer listed. I don't get the message as if the compatibility pack is not installed, there is just no option listed in the convert menu. In fact if I just open Word and drag-n-drop a .DOCX file into word it converts and opens just fine. It simply will not work if I use the F…

I agree with Steve. I can't tell you how many times I've accidently clicked that red 'x'! I work in a development environment where I utilize a particular address many times over the course of a day but don't need it long enough to throw into my favorites. Sure enough, as I'm cruising along doing my work I'll click the down arrow, click the url I need and next thing I know my url is deleted. Ugh! Please change this. I like both ideas of the red 'x' to the far left of the dropdown as well as a context menu delete choice. Anything but where one clicks 90% of the time to choose the url from the drop down list. Sorry to cut in on this Vista thread. Is there a similar fix for XP SP3. When I bootup, I get a Russian "Welcome" and when I shutdown the text is in Russian. dobry den, chcel by som sa opytat: dokument vytvoreny vo worde nizsiej verzie (2000, 2003, xp a pod.), ked ho pouzivam - otvorim, editujem a ukladam vo worde 2007 tak dochadza k nezelanej situacii: kontrola pravopisu nie je vyznacena cervenymi vlnovkami (alebo inym sposobom) napriek tomu ze v moznostiach wordu je nastavene automaticky kontrolovat text. Ak otvorim vo worde 2007 novy prazdny dokument a zacnem pisat tak automaticka kontrola pravopisu funguje dobre. Za vase rady voprad dakujem, Miroslav

"Low end" desktop computer (perhaps a Dell Inspiron 560 or 580) is running 64-bit Windows with integrated graphics (Intel GMA X4500) with the computer monitor connected to the VGA port and a television connected to the HDMI port. The desire is to display one running program on the normal computer screen while displaying another running program on the television screen. QUESTIONS 1. Can I have two programs running and have one displayed on the computer monitor and one displayed on the television screen using the integrated graphics? 2. If so, can I change to have the same program displayed on BOTH screens? 3. …

Once all files are completed updated, I would like to add coding at the end of process to disconnect the internet connection. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to code VBA macro to disconnect internet connect for macro? Thanks in advance for any suggestions Eric

I've recently been looking at implementing a script that runs just prior to PC shutdown, I have read this article: http://www.windows-help-central.com/windows-shutdown-script.html which states that "You can access network drives from startup and shutdown scripts. That's because startup scripts run after the computer initializes network connections and shutdown scripts run before the computer deletes network connections." Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be true as I definitely see the 'closing network connections' message appear before 'running shutdown script' message & as expected the script hasn't executed. I need network ac…
