Just in case it's of interest to anyone, Win2000 is not listed in the system requirements for the newest version of Trend-Micro Housecall (7.1). However I was able to get it to work with no issues, at least so far. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

hard drive data retrieval
by Guest R. C. White- 0 replies

Hi, Walt. I just open the computer case, then grab a couple of cables and connect the old drive to the connectors on the new mobo. Don't even have to put the old drive in the case, just set it on a table or something close enough for the cables to reach. And I usually don't throw away the old drive if it still works just mount it in the new case for additional storage or backup. I crashed my computer and had to buy a new one. All my email contacts are > on the old computers hard drive which I kept. How do I go about retrieving > my contact information off of my old hard drive? > > Walt[/color]

To Stop Mouse pointer jumps DO THIS: Go to control Panel - select: Mouse - Choose: Pointer Options - then: Uncheck the "Enhance Pointer Precision." This will fix it. My problem was occurring every 10 seconds. Ugh. Now it is gone. -- drtn Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com

Windows Explorer is not responding - Is SP1 the fix?
by Guest alexz- 0 replies

We had a very similar problem on Vista. Explorer would hang when we would try to delete or rename files. Disabling the Windows Search Service solved the problem for us as well. We could not stop the service even when we were logged in as an administrator. However, we disabled it on start up and then rebooted the computer. The service was stopped once rebooted and the problems disappeared.

Problems accessing office files
by Guest Andy Jenkinson- 0 replies

I operate a small office network with a desktop and laptop both running Vista Business. The network includes a DNS-323 NAS drive connected via a Netgear DGFV338 router. The NAs is configured in RAID1 format with two identical Seagate hard drives. The network was set up in September 2007 and ran fine until mid December 2009 when I began to have problems accessing files on the NAS drive. When trying to open a Word, Excel or saved email file I get the "File In Use" message saying the files is locked for editing by "another user" even though it is not open elsewhere. Saving a newly created file to the NAS drive is fine but if I then edit it …

.. Ray, Have you solved your problem yet? I have found a fix for me. I have had to disable or lower the NTLM security. From windows 7, click start, type local and open the Local Security Policy Manager. Select Local Policies -> Security Options, in the right find Network Secuity: LAN Manager Authentication Leven, and set to Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated. Hope that helps "Ray" wrote: > Windows 7 Pro can't join to Windows Server 2003 domain server, error message > as follow: > > "Your computer could not be joined to the domain because the followingerror >…

Permanently change process priority?
by Guest goofium- 0 replies

If using Process Lasso, also set the 'Forced mode' option. These processes may be changing their own priority. Process Lasso correctly doesn't try to fight with such processes, so you must turn this option on. This is probably why Prio and SetPriority didn't work. --- frmsrcurl: http://msgroups.net/microsoft.public.windowsxp.general/Permanently-change-process-priority
