Running XP Pro SP3 and Office SR-1 Premium. After installing then uninstalling a buggy program, Office advised "This program must be installed to run...etc." Initially I tried Add/Remove Programs-Change-Repair and Re-install, but no change. The date of last use is reflected as 08/02/2008! Then Installer warned "The patch package could not be opened...". After reading kb and forum info, downloaded and installed Installer Cleanup Utility msicuu2.exe. During installation the following errors occur: Internal Error 2908. {121634B3-2F4A-11D3-ADA3-00C04F52DD52} Internal Error 2908. {121634B5-2F4A-11D3-ADA3-00C04F52DD52} Internal Error 2908. {BF…

I got some good MKV files, now I want to put them on my iPad then I can watch them anywhere. Well, I know I can watch .mkv files with the VLC Media player, but seems iPad doesnât support .mkv playback, so I'm busy in finding an ipad video converter to convert MKV to iPad MP4 or a similar format. It's really an arduous job to find one tool that easy to use and not costly but can service for my conversion. Luckily, a friend of mine recommended me a MKV to iPad video converter for Mac which he tried very great. I download the freetrial and found it's very easy to use, and can convert MKV or HD MKV to ipad or MP4, or other formats like AVI, PS3,…

MIcrosoft has launched a new self-support service for Windows XP and Vista users that relies on technology baked into Windows 7. The combination of desktop client and back-end service gives users of older versions of Windows some of the same functionality that only Windows 7 provides by default, Lori Brownell, Microsoft's general manager of product quality and online support, said. The Fixit Center client is currently in beta, and can be downloaded free of charge. "Irrespective of what versions people are running, and many aren't running Windows 7 today, we need to support those customers just as well," said Brownell, explaining Microsoft's decision. Micros…

http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/installingsoftware What a fucking nightmare. Last resorts: .rpm and .tar.gz ..rpm If you can't find a .deb, you can try a .rpm. These files are packaged for other Linux distributions (usually Fedora or Mandriva), but there is an application called alien (which you can install using Synaptic) that allows you (most of the time) to convert .rpm files to .deb. Read more about this process. ..tar.gz As a last resort, you can download a .tar.gz file. The .tar.gz file extension indicates the file is a compressed set of files and folders (the compressed files you see in Windows usually have a .zi…

In article , Mofa wrote: > trying to open a ppt file with pp 2007 it says: > can not open because there is any text converter installed. > > whtat does it mean and how can I solve it??? It might mean that the document uses some obscure properties that're features of PPT 2010 beta but aren't supported in 2007 (unlikely). Or it could mean that the file's corrupted. A fairly common cause of this sort of thing is copying the file to a USB flash drive then removing the drive before you've properly ejected it.

Hello, I'm getting started with MDT 2010 and have a question about creating custom WIMs. We regularly capture WIMS of computers using Imagex (i.e. imagex /capture c: f:\fileshare\image.wim "Drive C") in a PE environment and I'd like to try to use MDT for this process instead of imagex if possible. With MDT you start the reference computer with the PE CD and you can capture a custom WIM but Windows 7 is then deployed to the target computer which I don't want to do. I'd like to know if there is a way to create a WIM of a reference computer and import it into the MDT database without deploying Windows 7 to that computer. Any suggestions are…

Hi all, I had a problem in setting the permission. I had created a user whereby this user do not have permission to delete files in this folder. I had set this user as a co-owner. And in the security option, I had added this user and set the permission to denied delete and delete files and subfolder. But unfortunately, it did not work. The denied delete permission is not working. Can someone please help? Thanks

I am trying to troubleshoot a very small business network. There is a folder shared from a Windows XP Pro machine, and when initiating a save as dialog to this location, many office applications will hang when it appears to be loading the contents of the folder. I have tested Excel and Word, versions 2000 and 2003. Navigating to the folder in explorer works just fine. I thought rebooting would help, but the issue appears to effect the machine even after a fresh boot. Some machines on our network behave correctly. Others will hang for a short while but eventually load the contents of the folder. Others will hang indefinitely. It is alw…

When I save an Office 2007 document, and I attempt to navigate to the folder I want to save in, there is a long freeze rendering the navigation pane in-operable for about 30 -40 seconds, sometimes longer. This happens in Word or Excel and it also happens if I am navigating to a folder to open a file via the applicable program. Any ideas? Thanks for you time. Darrell

Hi, in a windows 2k3 AD, with XP SP2 clients users have My documents folder in the path "\\server\documentos\%username%\Mis Documentos". Their profile is mobile and My documents folder is offline available. Now server is out of space and I have installed a new server, but I don't know how could move every user My documents folder to the new path. I have tried some ideas I have seen in the web, but no one worked. Do you know if a regeneration of their profile is needed? Does any of you know any solution (not as dramatic as this one)? Thank you very much. David
