Multiple video cards in 1 PC
by Guest undisclosed- 0 replies

I have just completed setting up a 2nd graphics card on my Dell desktop running XP home. My primary card is BFG nvidia 9400 in PCIe slot. I wanted a 2nd card to be able to run separate monitor ICC profiles for each monitor. Nvidia was very helpful in pointing me to the latest driver for the 9400. Once there, there is a list of supported hardware. I chose an 8400 PCI card (also BFG) that is compatible with this driver. Then I just turned off the machine, installed the card in the PCI slot, turned windows back on and let the machine find the card, load the drivers (same driver now used for both cards) and reboot the PC. Once the PC …

I found out what "still image service" is, the hard way.
by Guest Robbie Hatley- 0 replies

Ok, so after working fine for years, today my scanner suddenly took a dump and stopped working. I wasted hours going laboriously through pages of worthless troubleshooting procedures listed by Epson (the manufacturer) to no avail. I was about ready to chuck the scanner in the trash (or out the window) when a little birdy on my shoulder hinted that maybe I should look in my services for anything related to scanners. I stumbled across a service I had never payed attention to before, called "Still Image Service". Somehow it had got set to "Manual", and "not started". I switched it to "Automatic", and started it. Voila, my scann…

Hello, Using the Office Picture Manager, I select a picture, then select e-mail pictures. Within this pop up on the right hand side, i am supposed to be able to Attach, Display as previewed, and then create message. Only thing is all of the selections are grayed out and nothing can be selected. Questions are, Is Picture Manager hard coded to use Outlook or Outlook Express only? Are there any registry settings which might be massaged to point to another e-mail program? Thanks

Office 2007 PRO Spell Checker again!
by Guest Marv- 0 replies

All, I'm sure you're all tired of this subject, but I'm getting nowhere!. I've just installed Office Pro 07 on a brand new machine and trying to use Word 07 and Outlook 07 (not Outlook Express) and I can't get the spell checker to work in either. It did work very briefly on Outlook but then cut out. I've tried all of the suggestions that I can find on the web, but no success. Incidentally, got the spell checker working on Live mail. Please, any suggestions?

SP3 upgrade - hanging on cleanup
by Guest InfraEngineer- 0 replies

Stragely enough, I did not see anything related to what is actually going on.. When you run the installer, if you monitor the system event log (and refresh every so often) you will see that during the "cleanup" it is actually installing hot fixes post SP3. Now what I was looking for was something on this topic so I can determine if the process is actually installing the post SP3 hot fixes that were previously installed or if they were part of the SP3 installer. I suspect it was the former, as I could not find anything in the install package that indicated there were follow-on patches. Maybe someone else out there can expand on this. "Bernd" …
