Microsoft isn't saying when it plans to release the first service pack for Windows 7, but a purported Windows 7 SP1 is making the rounds on various Torrent sites. The blog Geeksmack earlier this week posted screen shots of a Windows SP1 beta compiled March 27, noting that the installation process is "much faster" than the process for Windows Vista, requiring just two reboots. Not much is known about Windows 7 SP1 and it's not receiving nearly as much attention as Vista SP…

I had this same problem after a new install of Windows Server 2008 x64. Found this site and it fixed the issue. Excel 2007 and Word 2007 Hangs when using the File -> Open command
by Guest SRD7972- 0 replies
I have a couple users that when they have Excel 2007 or Word 2007 open, and click the File -> Open option, and choose a file, it either takes about 3 minutes to open the file or the program will crash. If they were to double click on the documents or spreadsheets, the doc or sheet will open right up. This is happening on the user's Hard drive as well as network drives. Once you get a file opened in Word or Excel, however, the next time you go to File -> Open, it's really fast to open the file.

My HP Pavilion Q8200, 8GB RAM, WIN7 scores low compared -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MY HP Pavilion Intel CPU Q8200 scores low when compared with other CPUs, same Q8200, same RAM (8GB or less) same Graphics Express NVDIA 9400GT, Windows 7, no applications loaded other than ESET NOD32 AV. My HP gets only a score of 691 whereas a worldwide database for same CPU, same RAM, same Graphics card gets 1220, 1144, 1191, 1291 and higher. I have deleted all cookies, de-fragmented my hard drive, reduced Restore points. HP support is poor and spending 1 hour with them is useless. Any ideas here??…
