Office 2010 HP printer problem
by Guest 340N57AFGpb414- 0 replies

Office 2010 Professional Plus 2010 (the released 32-bit version, two activated copies on two computers) does not print multiple copies of any office document with my HP Laserjet P2055dn printers (using the latest Dec. 15, 2009 PCL 6 and PCL 5 UPD drivers available on the HP Web site). No matter how many copies are entered, only 1 copy of a document prints. Both of our computers are running Windows 7 x64. The printers worked fine with the Beta version of Office 2010, and work properly withh our non-Office programs. Our Xerox and Canon printers work properly. Does anyone have a solution? Thank you.

Funky write access to network drives
by Guest Striker77s- 0 replies

I'm having some baffling behavior on a computer and I need some help. I have a new computer (Dell T5500) with XP Pro SP3 that I setup that is acting strange. Every time I try write files to a network drive while logged into my domain it begins to copy and then fails. If I copy a group of small files several files will successfully write and then it fails at a random file. If I copy a large file it will begin and then fail. I've tried all kinds of files from different locations on my local hard drive. I can copy files from the network onto my local hard drive. I have roaming profiles turned on. Since I can't write to any server it can't write…

Hi All, XP-Pro-Sp3 I have a customer whose compute will randomly freeze up on him after ~ 1-1/2 hour of operation, for no particular reason. And, usually when he is away from it. Here is what I have done to trouble shoot: 1) screen saver = none 2) power mode = always on 3) ran for five solid days without a problem on Fedora Live CD (Linux) without a freeze up. If you are unfamiliar with Fedora Live CD: a) it does not use the hard drive b) although is does use RAM, it masks off bad memory as a phony process. (Unlike Windows that just corrupts or crashes.) User's memory is non-ECC. 4) ran …

[crosspost to IE General] Are you running WinXP SP2 or SP3? Does the behavior persist if you Reset IE Advanced settings (RIES)? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)? Were any of these applications running in the background when you installed IE8? Has a(nother) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)? -- IE-specific newsgroup: http://news://m…

Windows Calendar: Making Reminders pop up on top of other windows
by Guest crystal1963- 0 replies
I can not find a fix for this problem but an alternative. What you can do is schedule a task to open a program at a certain time. What I do is have it open a music file at the time of my appointment so I know to look at my calendar. So at 3:00 when WE WILL ROCK YOU comes on, I know it is time to go get my daughter. You can schedule daily, weekly, monthly, on start up or many different options and can open any program on your computer. If you want you can set up two reminders, one as a pop up and one to play the music. I just go to my calendar if I can't remember what the music came on for. Click on the Start menu, in the s…

Hi folks, I have cross-posted this from Excel forum as thought it looked a more appropriate newsgroup. -- We had a problem with Excel 2007 SP2 flickering and blanking out cells until the user scrolled or minimised or similar. Sometimes it would also crash. The issues were very similar and in some cases identical to those described here and in comments: http://smurfonspreadsheets.wordpress.com/2009/04/14/excel-2007-screen-video-issues/ The issue is reported as resolved in this hotfix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973932/ but when I try and install it it goes through the full install and returns Installation of…

Sony Laptops: 'Motion Eye' camera
by Guest DRDR- 0 replies
Like others I am somewhat disgusted with the lack of support from Sony. After installing Windows 7 on my VAIO VGN-FZ18L the Motion Eye no longer worked. I bought the machine to use Skype when away from home, so it was rendered useless. I have managed to get Skype going again - here is how I did it .... Despite doing a Windows 7 'clean install' and being informed that all my data and old operating system would be removed I was surprised to see that some items remained and that my old operating system was bundled up in a 'windows.old' file. The plan was to extract the old driver from that. Start / Control Panel Select - View Devices …

I have an application that uses an Access DB that I have just migrated from a 32bit Win2003 server to a 64bit Win2008 server. I have a CRUD application I use to access the DB. This all works just fine on the Win2003 server. I have configured the permissions on the folder containing the .mdb file the same as on my Win2003 server. In IIS7 I have also edited the settings for the website to run in a 32-bit application pool. I have a debug.asp page that checks the connection to the DB which shows all is fine on the Win2003 server but I keep getting access errors as below on the Win2008 server. Testing database connection adodb.connection is OK Could not open databa…

Loaded Microsoft Office Pack for Tablet PC on tablet PC. But can only insert handwritten ink comments and ink drawing and writing box. Cannot write directly, for example, on a Word doc or PowerPoint slide. On first startup (of Word or PowerPoint) was not asked if I wanted to run the Tablet add-in. This question asked only on startup of Windows Journal. Any help gratefully received.

Similar to Nash, mine was broken by cat hairs inside the mouse but on the outside of the microswitch - I cleaned these and it's single clicky again. I just wanted to add this message to support the suggestion that the problem can be outside the microswitch to anyone stumbling upon this discussion - I certainly didn't expect cleaning around it to work but it did. -- floppydisk
